Just received a Cheaper Than Dirt catalog #607 and was shocked at their ammo prices! These are the prices in the CTD Flyer for 9mm, 115gr FMJ.

American Eagle FMJ 115gr 9mm, for 50 rounds $59.59

PMC Bronze FMJ 95gr 380, for 50 rounds $59.59

Speer Lawman FMJ 115gr 9mm, for 50 rounds $49.59

I just ordered 1000 rounds of New 115gr 9mm from freedom Munitions for $339.99 which leads me to believe CTD is ripping us off at their prices.

I stopped shopping there in 2008 and I will never visit their site again. I believe in the free market and they can charge whatever they want....but because of their ridiculous pricing I will not give them my business. They were selling pmags for $100 each earlier this year. I bought pmags the same day I saw them for $100 on CTD for $20 elsewhere and just $13 recently. Also, their shipping policies are crazy too. You can order different items and get hit with multiple charges because they ship them from different warehouses. I don't know of any other company that does that.

I make sure to tell everyone I know not to shop there also. They might laugh their way to the bank here and there but in the end it's going to cost them tons of customers.

I can't say bad enough things about CTD. I'd rather run out of ammo and throw rocks and sticks at targets than give them a penny.

How about the 22lr

Don't know what page it was, I threw the catalog out, but $249.49 for a brick (550) rds of 22lr. Talk about GOUGING!

Yep, ever since the shortage started they jacked their prices so high compared to just about anyone else. Never buy there again.

Why anyone even bothers to look at that place anymore is beyond me....

During the AR panic they were selling a $600 S&W MP15 for $2000.

Sad thing is... They wouldn't charge this much if it wasn't successful. Obviously someone is buying it

I have a buddy who works for a pawn/gun shop that has been gouging since the panic started. They're selling SR9s for $60.00 ABOVE Ruger's suggested retail.
Their Glock prices are much higher than that.
His justification for it was "If they didn't charge that much, they'd be out of stock in a couple of days. Then, they'd be a slingshot store."
Sure, some excuse for raping customers is better than none.
They don't even include any Vaseline.

I can't fault them for preying on stupid people nor do I have any sympathy for the stupid people.

But I will never do business with them.

CTD has been gouging just like every other online retailer since December. It absolutely amazes me that people would pay such a high price for .22 plinking ammo. I understand if you need a box of 50 just to HAVE some on hand but why pay stupid prices for a large quantity? I have not seen a single online retailer offering pre-panic prices on ammo. Midway has some .22 bricks for $35-$40 today which is double what they should be but everyone seems to think Larry can do no wrong. Don't tell me that their actual cost has doubled.

I have used CTD in the past with no issues. You do have to be careful and make sure everything you buy is coming from the same warehouse but it is pretty obvious on their web page.

CTD's business model is entirely based on thinking you are too stupid to shop elsewhere.

We have been shopping elsewhere. Why pay more than you have to? Here are some recent prices of ammo:

I grow weary of these CTD bashing threads, I've seen worse prices at gun shows. Chuckle and move along, pity the fool who is that desperate or doesn't know any better.

There is asking price and selling price, when the asking price isn't met, eventually it will come down to what the market supports. Unfortunately as the prices listed above show selling prices are still 50-100% higher than eight months ago. A few random clicks on the links above showed most were out of stock so I doubt prices will come down much anytime soon. :(

I've bought from CTD in the past when they had the best in stock price on what I needed, and I'll do so again if it ever happens. In the meantime their catalogs are good for a laugh, and I enjoy their Jerry Micluk "shoot fast" videos.

I hope they go out of business and someone buys all their inventory and sells it for a fair price. They don't deserve to stay in business and quite frankly with their prices I can't imagine anyone buying ammo from them.

I have been ripped off but only because I was ignorant of what I should have asked for what I was selling.

I don't hold much loyalty for any online retailer that isn't blowing away B&M prices, I would rather drive down the street and go see my Local gunshop owner then order online for the same price ( and I am a Sr Software Engineer for those that would accuse me of being a technophobe) I do use gunbot quite a bit to find the best ammo prices online but I still will pick up some locally if I cant save a lot on the purchase going over the net.
That being said I do get CTD (Costlier then Diamonds) catalogs and decided I would never purchase anything from them when they just started sending catalogs with no prices in them at all, sorry that was just ridiculous.

i have less a problem with what they charge for their ammo, (its their store, and their business and if it keeps the doors open and making money then ok) but i wont support them for the **** they pulled right after Sandy Hook by pulling and halting online gun sales and caving to the political pressure to do so.

all they did was give more fuel to those calling for gun control and to stop online gun sales.

For that, they will forever be irreconcilable with my online buying practices and I hope they go out of business for biting the hand that feeds them.

Why anyone even bothers to look at that place anymore is beyond me....
It's called comic relief! :D

With my recent (first and last order) snafu, apparently I'm now on their mailing list. When I got their catalog, I couldn't help but laugh harder with each flip of the page!

As my experience with them taught me, despite what you may think of their pricing practices, that is the least of their problems...

This is exactly why they do it. idiots are still buying at this price. if we could all go one month without buying from them when they get stocked up, they would drop it immediately so it didnt sit in their warehouse
