Oh, please. Shot is shot; killed is killed. Their is nothing in that headline that touches on the legitimacy of these shootings one way or the other. The article clearly states the facts on the police shootings. You'd have a point if the headline said murder or something.

I got the police involvement from the article, it was clearly mentioned. As you initially said, this will be used for pushing agendas on both sides and for everyone that just scans headlines they only see 82 shot. When the headline is violence and guns are mentioned the guns are implied to be the cause.

The headline does not say 536 injured and 45 killed over holiday weekend*, it specifically calls out Shot, Gun Violence. The larger number would have bigger shock value, why not go with it? That headline is just as deceptive as the school shootings one from last month that included suicides.

* Numbers made up, I have no idea how many were injured or killed overall

Whatever happened to "ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS" ? You know.. the research into finding the REAL cause of all this mayhem. You won't see that mentioned anymore; now it's just "blame the guns". They will just want more "common sense" and "reasonable" gun control. Never mind what's causing this violence, and that if they could make all guns vanish the mayhem would continue with knives, clubs, etc. etc... No; lets not worry about all these people killing each other.... let's worry about what weapons they are utilizing.

So how many were there last year and the year before? If they want to show any kind of factual escalation, let's go back 10 years and see what the figures show. I would bet that there were less this year than the past few. those long hot summers have always been bad when it comes to holiday weekends in the hood.
How do you fix it?
Stop letting in illiterate immigrants with records, and start educating the ones who are here. This is part of a much larger problem with the amount of drop outs in low income neighborhoods and lack of employment for unskilled labor, what are the expectations for ghetto youth.
This is a situation that took years to create, it's not going away by itself.

VERY VERY FEW.

All the powers at be want to do in Chicago is deny law abiding citizens their constitutional rights, and fail to enforce the buttloads of laws already on the books.

They do not understand that anything stupid that you can do with a firearm is already against the law.
