Chicago's Daley Blinks:May Drop Fight to Keep Handgun Ban

This crap about the safety of first responders just doesn't fly. I used to work in EMS when I lived in California. One thing that someone who works on the street knows is that the criminals are going to have guns no matter what the law states. You have to take into account your surroundings and the vibe you get off the call. It is not the gun in the house that is the issue but if the person in the house is a criminal or not. That is not going to change now or ever, no matter what gun laws there are or there are not on the books. :banghead:
Does this idiot think that people are calling 911 and then setting up ambushes for whoever shows up first?
I want him to start coming up with some legitamate statistics on first responders killed or injured in Chicago by legally owned guns... Oh wait. that's right. He can't come up with something that doesn't exist. Unless of course it is votes for him in an election.

"We're talking about putting first-responders in a very, very delicate position of people being armed without being notified how many guns they have in their homes," Daley said. "We have to be able to fashion a law that truly protects first-responders and protects the citizens."

Daley needs to figure out that a lot of the instructors for ccw licenses are police officers and those of us who are law abiding citizens are the least of the first responders problems! Daley is blinded by his ideology and thinks that government has to protect us because we are incapable of doing it for ourselves!

Daley said. "We have to be able to fashion a law that truly protects first-responders and protects the citizens."
Suggestion: Have "first responders" only respond to emergencies. Don't use SWAT teams, no-knock warrants and "dynamic entries" to serve warrants for truancy and unpaid parking tickets. Reserve no-knocks and SWAT entries to the few dangerous sitations for which they are appropriate and you won't have much to worry about.

Yeah, I'd put that in a law: The Chicago Police Department shall not be authorized to utilize no-knock warrants or dynamic (forced) entry techniques to gain admittance into any private residence.

"We're talking about putting first-responders in a very, very delicate position of people being armed without being notified how many guns they have in their homes," Daley said.

How many guns can a person fire at once? This guy can't even put a logical thought together.

I wish I had permission from a couple of million voters to make statements as stupid as he does.

Remember his incoherent and meaningless sputtering in that TV interview right after Heller came down?

I was embarrassed for him. No, really. I cringed watching it.

I hope there are no other products of the Chicago Machine running for any offices.

No, Don't answer that!

"I hope there are no other products of the Chicago Machine running for any offices."

I hate to dissappoint you but the Democrat candidate for President of the United States is a product of the Chicago Machine.

actually if I recall, even the jaded press is started to wonder if Daley has lost it when it comes to gun control...or in general, as even to the press what he saying makes NO sense...

Chicagoans with guns in their homes might be required to have insurance to protect taxpayers from frivolous lawsuits, he said

Here's insurance for you, Mr Dailey: Castle Doctrine. Get your local reps out of the way of the rest of the state and things will work out.

I gotta use visual aids more and not trust that people will catch onto my sarcasm:

"I hope there are no other products of the Chicago Machine running for any offices. "

There. Fixed it.

I don't think comrade Daley is going to back down. Given the national repercussions at stake, he will ponder his actions on how to conduct his course of actions.

Sometimes when I hear this man speak and the things he says, I either feel like I am at risk of lowering my IQ or relating his outbursts to a Denny Greene press conference.

t would be unfortunate if Daley caves. We actually need this trial to get to SCOTUS, so that they rule on incorporation of the 2nd Amendment.

I smell a Brady rat.

After all... they did try to talk Fenty out of appealing the DC case to the SCOTUS.

He's backing down hard right now and instructing his aides and pet Aldermen to craft new firearms rules for one reason:

2 SCOTUS rulings pertaining to protection of firearms ownership within a decade indicates a civil rights problem that must be federally addressed as a major issue.

It also cements the right indelibly in our national fabric.

Their tactic now is to quietly back down, lower the temperature on that frog a bit, and start raising it back again in another 10 years.

summary judgment motion answers

The court can rule whenever it wants on the motion, even after it lets the trial go to the bitter end.

It also has the option of refusing to dismiss the case for "mootness" if the City could still re-enact the same ordinance at a later time. I understand that mootness especially won't end the matter in civil rights cases.

Why are these people not being impeached for not upholding the Constitution as they swore to do?

For an oath to be binding, one would have to have good moral character when one repeated it.

How will he explain this to his buddy Mike Bloomberg?

No matter what you may think of Bloomberg's politics or stance on a range of issues, no one has ever accused the man of being stupid or fiscally idiotic.

He knows that every time Daley goes off on one, the probability and imminence of NYC's laws being pruned goes up dramatically..........

Chicagoans with guns in their homes might be required to have insurance to protect taxpayers from frivolous lawsuits, he said.

"Yo, my sista LaTinqua gots shot acause the maya di-in't ban da gunz, know what I'm sayin'?"

Of course if all such lawsuits are frivolous, then it's unlikely the insurance companies would pay.

It makes absolutely zero sense to me as to why the Chicago Political Machine has not bitten the dust a long time ago. Their anti-RKBA stances aside, this gang is the most corrupt group of politicians in the country outside of perhaps New Orleans. You think that Chicagoans would have had enough.

You might think so but my brother lives in Chicago, has a phD, is a professor at a state university and thinks Daley is just fine.

part of an email he sent me recently says it all.

Blago may already be on his way, I don’t know, but I do know that “they” are ready to go after his wife and the president of the senate (but you did not hear that from me!). Stayed tuned in October. Daley will never go to jail, you can bet on that. In fact he has (and I am biting my tongue now) been a decent mayor, at least relative to the nuts that came before him (although admittedly that is not a high hurdle).
