Norinco

Can't speak for any Norinco products other than the 1911 clones...but when
I can buy a 1911-pattern pistol as tough and as durable as the Norinco...AND has zero castings/MIM/pressed beer cans/whatever internals AND is dead reliable straight out of the box...I'll stop buyin' up every one I can find of the gun that hasn't been imported for ...oh...10-12 years and whatever money the Chinese made from it has already BEEN made AND spent and the money for said pistols NOW goes into American pockets...THEN I'll give a little credence to the rants. (I know...Run on.)

Speakin' of the Nork-haters...Any of ya'll own a Griffon? Anybody?
Guess who made'em. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat's right.;)

Yes. The Chinese are by political and idealogical definition our avowed enemies. When they invade, I'll shoot a few with their own guns...just like the Vietnamese Guerillas aka "Viet Cong' did with OUR weapons that WE GAVE the Chinese during WW2 to fend off the Japanese hordes...that we now consider to be our new best friends and from whom we buy many, many things...except guns. We also trade with Mexico...Remember the Alamo! We also buy from the Germans. Remember the Holocaust! We buy from the British.
Remember Lexington and Concord!

Oh! Built with cheap, almost slave labor under sweatshop conditions. Yeah...Look under the hood of your car for all the things marked "Made in Mexico." Betcha they're payin' those folks a real Upper Middle-Class wage with retirement and profit sharing plans. That's why they keep jumpin' the border so they can come here and pick peaches for 3 bucks an hour. Tired of lucrative factory work and wantin' to get out in the fresh air and sunshine...

Cheers!

Kind of straying off topic a bit, but:

Yugoslav firearms are some of the more popular milsurps these days. There's M48, M48A, M24/47 Mausers and the widely sold Yugo M59/66 SKS. I've got a few of each myself.

Since the former Yugoslavia underwent a rather brutal "ethnic cleansing" ordeal in the 1990's, you would think people would mention that in regard with these weapons. I'm sure that at least a few were used in some atrocity or another.

That never entered my mind when I bought these guns, but should it? Am I missing something obvious here? (Probably, but nothing comes to mind at present).

When you buy a used car, do you concern yourself with how many people it might have run over?
If so then buying any used weapon could send you on a guilt trip.

Otherwise its just a thing. No more good or evil than the person who uses it.

re:

Slater and maxwell....exactly.

And:

If you buy a used Ford or Chevy from your neighbor Joe...whose pocket is the money going into...Ford's or Joe's?

For the record: When the Norincos were being imported, I wouldn't buy one either, and partly for the same reasons. Now that they've been here for awhile and the Chinese aren't making anything from'em any more...I buy one when I can. Damn good pistols, even if they are a little rough.

Personally I'm buying all the Chinese guns I can get my hands on.

Think of the irony of when my neighbors and I turn them on the invading yellow horde next year

Regarding not buying from a country we could be at war with in the future:

Hey, wait a minute! Won't it be an advantage to be fully acquainted with the tools, ways, methods --- AND WEAPONS --- of your enemy?

Just a thought!

According to the Art of War.... yes.

haha exactly

Supporting Communist leaders?

Cosmoline,
Understand your position. If we were to stop the profiteering though, we as a people have to stop buying.. their drugs (illegal), their products (buy clothing from Wal Mart lately?), polar fleece clothing, shoes, computers, various replacement parts ( auto, electronic, computer chips, etc.).

How about all the tourists that go to China yearly? and all the dollars that they spend over there?

It's a lot more complex than people know.

Luck.

I like my Norinco SKS, and the next Norinco 1911 I run across is getting bought (unless it's being sold for twice what a new Springfield runs, like the last gunshow :uhoh: ).

Norinco is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Peoples Liberation Army, but guess how many of my dollars they will see from these purchases. None.

I applaud your patriotism, but if you really think buying used Chinese guns is that bad, I'd advise you also purchase an American made bicycle. The gas and oil running your car comes from Venezuela and Iran, but I don't hear you advocating walking. I hear Schwinn's are at least partially made in America. Good luck.
