Damn .. for some reason I didn't even bother with looking that far up the right side. Bummer.... oh well. I did find a Mauser that I'm gonna go pick up from the gut tomorrow. It was nice. Check the other thread about mausers i got going here.

Plink ,

Do you have a link to a stamped SKS, I've never seen one.

and the para trooper has a ~16" hm.. So does the AK.

I do think the velocity would be nice if it was higher but a para trooper vs and AK its a wash I dont think any one with an AK is worried about more velocity.

The Standard SKS would pick up some FPS though.

I wish I had gotten the card of the guy.

There was also a guy with an AK74 style brake for a 7.62 rifle (up by the front next to the trigger guy. I wish I would have gotten both.

SKYWLKR, I've never seen a stamped one face to face but I've seen several pics online. I don't have any links, but you might try the various SKS forums. Apparently, the chinese were just starting to crank them out and send them this way when importation stopped. There are a few out there, but not very many. I have seen some stamped trigger groups for sale in the past also, so some of the parts made it in too.

I know what you mean about the AK and velocity. I own both and can't really tell much of a difference either way as far as trajectory goes. I do notice the shorter sight radius on the paratrooper model SKS compared to the standard ones. I just meant that the shorter barrel on an SKS really doesn't give you anything in return for what you lose over a standard length one.

I saw that one,but just wasn't interested in stock or semi-standard AK's anymore. At least not after working in a local shop for the last week, you can probably guess which one if you know anything about AK's. I like the ones he puts out much more than the ones you see at shows. I wonder if he's ever considered doing a show just to see if he could sell them ..... ?

I have a Norinco Chinese SKS, made in 1968 and it's the best shooting SKS I have owned, better than my 2 Yugos or my Russian Tula refurb.
It was under $200, but there are some dings (minor) on the stock.
It is all milled, all matching #'s, was made in the year I joined the Army.

Older Norinco SKS's are military guns that were refurbished for sale in (mainly) the US.

I think $250 for a perfect one is just a tad high, but prices are going up.
I don't care for the (fake) paratrooper or cowboy models, and wouldn't bother with them.

Atblis is correct . Not all Chinese SKS rifles are the same , of the same quality and / or made the same. If there are 3 triangles on the left side of the receiver, chances are it was ex military . If there is a letter and numerical code beside these triangles, the rifle can be dated . Some of these had milled receivers & trigger guards and threaded in barrels. I have 1 of these and it's quality is nearly as good as my Russian Izzy. Hope this helps.
