Classic rifles in the field

It was a custom made by Willi Karl in Luneburg Germany proofed in 1940. It has a bit if engraving. 24” barrel that is 1/2 octagon and 1/2 round. 2 leaf rear sight with solid silver front sight. Double set triggers. It likes remington 175 gr round nose bullets but loves the Sellier & Bellot 140 grain round nose bullets. Had never shot Sellier & Bellot before so I was pleasantly suprized. I got the 175’s with the rifle and the S&B were the only 7x57 rounds I could find locally.

Both beautiful old rifles that I hope you're showing deer pics with either this fall! And I love the Mauser, and got to agree to it just about being the perfect deer cartridge in the eastern woods! Love old classic rifles.
Never had a 7x57 or 7mm-08 but too much done proved by others.

WDM Bell thought it just right for Elephants as his bag of 1011 proved! How do the British say it “not my cup of tea old chap”.

It's from a whitetail. There are elk here, but don't think in this immediate area. There's couple big old mountain wt bucks running these woods.

Yes they do, as good as ever! I'd enjoy just going Afield with that 86, good deer a big bonus!

I found this Mod 94 30-30 at the local pawn, just fell in love! It was just so clean, well taken care of, I had to have it!
It's a very early 1964 made, the worst rep of em all. I shot 4 different loads thru it yesterday at 40yds, and it was consistently accurate and same POI, with 150, 160, and 170gr loads!
It may very well give my Mod 64 a run for #1 in my heart? 20220423_104621.jpg
I'd much rather have walnut & blued as a plastic & alloy anything!

To all that posted pic`s.... Thank you.
Especially the Sav "99" folks.
My oldie is a Sav 99 feather weight. In 250/3000. Pre-million.
There have been times it's been a hangar queen. It never sees bad weather. That`s just how it is.
