I also bought an OPSol Mini-Clip to reliably use Aguila minishells:

Here is the shotgun with 8+1 mini Aguila buckshot rounds and the OPSol Mini-Clip installed. Each shell contains seven #4 buck pellets and four #1 buck pellets for a total of 11 pellets at approx. 1200 FPS. Decreased recoil and increased magazine capacity over standard 2 3/4" buckshot loads. Effective for sure!

Got mine and promptly shot both 12 gauge low brass #7's and then 2 3/4 slugs through her.

I am 70 in 3 months and an avid shooter and it was a hoot !.

THEN,added the Aguala adapter to her and now its a VERY SOFT 10 shot slug or buckshot S/D tool.

Before any of you judge, please do try one.

I do not post pic's or videos, but if I did you would want to buy one ASAP .

I personally do not like PG shotguns. They are simply too limited in practical effective range. Even a conventionally stocked shotgun with 000 buck is limited to about 25 yards because of shot dispersion. In this case, I would concede that as a close up weapon, say 0-7 yards, it has definite utility in a variety of applications. Virtues being portability and speed, hard hitting within range.

Okay while you're thinking me and scaatylobo will be out having fun! That is what the Shockwave is mainly for I think. It would do for defense, but a standard shotgun is better. But, it is very fun to shoot!!

Would be a great bear gun while fishing in Alaska!
That's where I see it fitting in. handier that a stocked 18" 12 ga. and a better option than any pistol. Otherwise, I agree with most who prefer a stock. Like Gordon, I tried various PGO's back in the day. Had a Pachmyr Vindicator grip on an 870; it was fun to shoot trap with, standing on top of the house. And when a friend busted himself in the chops with it. I have a stock for my Ithaca 37 that can separate and be a PGO. Played with it once after I got it, put the stock on, and it sits in my bedroom now. I won't say I'd never own a Shockwave or Tac-14, but there are other guns I want first.

After thought two.

Where legal; single point sling attached to PG cap. Under a coat etc...

"That's notta gun.... THIS is a gun..."

That would immediately change it's status to an SBS, as I understand the ATF's ruling on this class of 'firearm'. Sort of like firing an AR or AK pistol with an 'arm brace' changes it's status to an SBR.

I lived in Alaska for 34 years (1973-2007) and have probably fished more salmon rivers and creeks than you can name. I don't want to come across as a butthole, but I have to disagree. It would be cumbersome to say the least, and I have owned an 18-1/2" 870 in that configuration. When fishing, I always used a 3-screw Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag in a Bianchi shoulder holster using 240 or 300 grain semi-jacketed slugs in front of a load of Hodgdon 110 powder. Very hard hitting rounds.

I confess that I never shot a bear in self-defense, but did take a blackie with it during hunting season in the Talkeetna Mountains north of Wasilla with one shot through the lungs in 1982 using a Speer 240 grain jacketed semi-wadcutter. Excellent pistol, and excellent meat. It was not a big bear (300#) but excellent due to the fact that it was not feeding on salmon. No fishy taste to the meat.

As stated,PLEASE do not judge this tool until you have fired one.
I would MUCH rather have it for a bear attack than ANY other pistol = yes, even a 500 S&W [ or .460 S&W that I do plan to get soon ].
The 12 bore slug is one of THE best stoppers in the world, that can actually be fired with reasonable accuracy through this tool.
Just give it a 'shot' ,so to speak.
Just ordered the sheath & sling to carry it,when I feel so inclined.

Nobody ever said it was useless, but there are far better options. You're just going to be more accurate and quicker on the point with a properly stocked long gun, as well as get much faster follow up shots. A stock on a shotgun is also kind of necessary for smooth reloads. But mainly it's about getting on target fast, making accurate shots, and controlling the recoil so you can get back on target for follow up shots.

Yeah sbs. But I always get worried about dancing that line as the first one to interpret the law is the cop who decides he needs to run you down. Then it's up to the judge to pass a ruling all the while you may be busting rocks.

Paranoid much? I'm law enforcement and if ATF says it's good to go, then it is. Do you really think Buds will sell an illegal weapon?

No hoss I'm not paranoid I live in Louisiana and I know how dicey our local black and blues are. I spent 4 hrs on the hood of a running squad car for having a legally owned permitted pistol. I was just trying to buy fried chicken and an ******* in line behind me saw my gun printing through my clothes and called them on me. The law and those who I force it are not all reasonable kind hearted people.

Then I must presume that you have NOT actually tried to shoot one of these yet ?.

As I found it to be very accurate at out to 10 yards [ attacking bears might be that close,no ? ].

I had no problems getting off 6 slugs as fast as I could pump = on target.

Would I rather have my 18" barreled 870 = hell yea.

BUT it's pretty good odds that if I have either,it will be the shockwave ,unless I am hunting.

Yes, I have shot one.

What was your time? I'm betting you don't have a clue.
I've actually run PGOs on a shot timer and watched others try it as well, until you actually know just how much slower (read less effective) and what happens to accuracy against a timer, don't preach about judgement

Shotguns were/are standard equipment in police cars. I've never seen a pistol/raptor grip on any of them, they are all full stocked. As a matter of fact I've never seen a pistol grip on any weapon carried by anyone who job it is to protect themselves and kill people. In the movies yes, in a real life situation.. no. If a pistol grip had any advantage over a full stocked fire arm you'd see more of them....

DDDwho - guess you've never seen a police car with an AR mounted next to the shotgun then?

I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or just didn't read the thread? He's talking about pistol grip only weapons, which is the subject of this thread.

I mean seriously, would you walk up on a conversation and start calling people out before you even knew what the conversation was about?

Correct I did not time my shots.
And now that you mention it,I will try to remember to do so [ key word "try",old age does that ].
But I still see this as a gun that I will actually carry ,if not actually hunting and then it might be the 870.
Not arguing that the 870 will not be faster & more accurate.
But that is VERY unlikely to be in my kit while in the woods ,just hiking in bear territory or in 2 legged predator AO.

For those that have a nagative opinion about the Mosberg Shockwave, I'd say you haven't tried one, if you had I think you might feel much different about it, this shotgun mini works like a champ, and is user friendly, it can take the mini shells and a variety of SD ammo , just a note, I paid $369.00 for mine at my LGS, and they were going for $400.00 to $449.00 at other gun stores in the area, I also have a Remington 870 Express Tactical, these two make a great combination for my needs...

You can say those things about any Mossberg. It's just a 590 with a pistol grip. And I would be willing to bet that most people here have at some point shot a PGO 590, or some other PGO only shotgun. This isn't something radically new. It's just the same old AOWs we've had for decades, but without the tax stamp.
