Firearms in the Asian communities are nothing new. Many of us remember that during the (LA/Rodney King) riots in '92 these guys stepped up to protect their businesses and homes.

And the roof Koreans have had my admiration ever since. :)

I heard that most of the Koreans in L.A. at that time were actually immigrants and the men had served in the South Korean armed forces. If anybody here knows about the demographics and firearms attitudes of the current Korean community I'd love them to share that information.

Not entirely.
I would say it's true that both manufacturers and 2A advocacy groups have been increasingly reaching out to demographics other than old white males, but if the desire wasn't there no amount of outreach would accomplish much. Plus you have members of those other groups becoming vocal advocates to their co-members, offering training etc. Maj Touré and Black Guns Matter is one example, Doris Wise Montrose and Jews Can Shoot is another. A lot of times a person from a minority demographic feels more comfortable having their first shooting experience being with a member of their own group.

I have shot in several Howard Huang Memorial tournaments hosted by the California Asian Peace Officers Association, my first one back in 2009.
Many men and women ( In LE and not) shot in that series of tournaments, I was amazed to have placed in the top 3 in my divisions a few times over the years.

Lots of great shooters, and even better people, representing almost every Asian nation were there. With many having multi-generational experiences with self-defense shooting, hunting and competing.

I hope any American who respects all that we have
exercises their 2A rights; no matter their color, creed, religion, sex, etc. :)

Stay safe.

It's been attributed to the notion some folks have, that it was the Asians that created and brought to America, the dreaded Covid.
And since you can’t tell by looking at someone whether their family has been here since the 1800’s, first building railroads, or whether they stepped off a plane from Asia today, that type of thinking is the height of idiocy.

News media is always looking for a new story angle, so first it was new African-American shooters, then female shooters, and now Asian-American shooters.

By picking shooters apart by ethnicity, race, or gender, they try and use stereotypes. But lately, it just seems everyone wants to protect themselves, hopefully, the stereotyping by the media will end.

I guess they never looked at HI with its 36% ethnic Asian population. Plenty of shooters and hunters there, despite their draconian gun laws.

again, race got nothing to do with gun ownership. The “Left wing Media” will say anything to divide this moderate country. If they can divide us by Pepsi or Coke, they would
