Just received this in my mailbox:
Recall of Anti-2nd Amendment Colorado Senate President John Morse Succeeds

Signature totals greater than number of votes cast for Morse's election

Colorado Springs, CO, June 4,2013, The Basic Freedom Defense Fund (BFDF - www.bfdf.org),the Colorado grassroots group heading the recall of State Senate President John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) has submitted16,046 District 11 voter petition signatures to the Colorado Secretary of States' office for the recall of John Morse. This exceeds both the 7,178 signatures necessary for the recall and also exceeds the total number of votes (13,451) cast for Morse during his 2010 election.

The results of this historic recall effort were achieved despite the efforts of NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, Morse's robo calls to voters, false attacks on signature collectors' reputations and Morse's political machine headed by Ed Hall, Chairman of the Denver Democrats and filing agent for Morse's anti-recall group "A Whole Lot of People for John Morse." Hall is known for his Democrat Party biography referring to Colorado Springs as a "...right-wing, religious whack-job stronghold."*

The submitted petition signatures and addresses will be verified by the Secretary of State. It is expected that Democrats will further challenge remaining signatures, possibly including court challenges to draw out the process. If the count still exceeds 7,178 after this, Morse will be given five working days from that time to decide whether or not to resign his office.

If Morse resigns within the five-day period, state Democrats can appoint a replacement from their ranks. If he does not resign, a date for the special election is set. In that event, it is possible that the Governor and Democrat Party may try to extend it to November so as to prepare a campaign to try to save Morse.

In a recent Colorado Springs interview Morse stated he will not resign and is "...in now until the bitter end." Colorado Democrat Party Chairman Rick Palacio of Pueblo denied rumors that state Democrats may ask Morse to step down so that they may replace him with appointee Michael Merrifield, though Palacio later stated in the same interview that Merrifield as a replacement "is a possibility."

Such a move risks public backlash as it could be perceived as both ignoring the electorate's wishes and taking an even harder stance against gun rights since Merrifield has served as a state director for Mayor Bloomberg's gun-banning group "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" - positions that inspired the Morse recall effort.

"Regardless of the outcome and any posturing by Morse, he is going to be removed from his senate position one way or another due to his anti-constitutional beliefs and demonstrated actions." --Anthony Garcia, BFDF spokesman -- [email protected].

I utterly refuse to go making giddy happy noises about these idjits having finally pushed so far that the whole thing rolls back on them and sweeps them right out the door, leaving CO free-er than before, by this time next year.

Not going to say anything like that! :D Don't wanna jinx it! :D

Not my district......Bloomie will tell him to resign so they can appoint another
lib progressive to hold the fort. Still got few more petitions out there....

Hope n prey
Dan

and in Corrupticut CCDL is working to overturn our "new" laws...which just voted on amendments -- http://www.cga.ct.gov/2013/lcoamd/2013LCO08513-R00-AMD.htm
that are so complicated as to be a politicians dream come true. cause they mean whatever they want it to when they want it to mean whatever they want.
makes sense, right?
makes so much sense that it was passed in secret

The Washington-based Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee fired off a statement Monday describing organizers as “extremists in Colorado who want to waste hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars.”
Once again, we're painted as extremists

LOL...extremists. You know, those "extremists" go by a couple of other names. Names like, "citizen," and "constituent." As in, legitimate, tax-paying, law-abiding, residents of the state who elect representatives to go and (crazy idea here!) represent their views in the legislature.

Oy happy news. Did any other senators get hit with a recall as well. I thought Morse was the only one they thought they could get so they weren't too concerned about any others. I hope some others get recalled as well.

Excellent. Not my state, but I am VERY happy for y'all. This will send a message! The buzzards that feed on roadkill watch for cars because they know how their lunch got there. His successor will no doubt think twice before repeating this one's mistakes.

But, but, but...

...I thought all the senators who voted against background checks were going to be thrown out of office by outraged constituents!

The mainstream media said so. :neener::neener::neener:

Derek; Thanks for posting this. Now I know where to send a donation. Those of us in the 2nd Amendment community need to support our brethren in Colorado.I hope the voters there stomp on Morse and the Dems the same way Godzilla stomped on Tokyo. For those of you folks living in free states who take comfort in thinking"It will never happen here"need to look at what happened here in Nevada today.Nevada has been described as one of the most Libertarian states due to its freewheeling attitudes towards gambling, prostitution, divorce, and minimal gun laws, except for here in Clark County where handguns must be registered. Here is a link to a local TV station http://www.8newsnow.com/story/22490...eck-bill-passes-legislature.......Fortunately our Republican Governor has stated that he would veto this bill, and the numbers in the legislature are not there to override a veto, but Bloomie and his minions are spreading propaganda money around like crazy,so we will not be sure till the Fat Lady sings the last note. Now there is talk of recalling some of the perpetrators of this monstrosity here in Nevada, but the outcome would be much less certain than in Colorado.Due to our location,we get the Marxists....errr....Liberals fleeing California first, before they spread to all the other unspoiled states in the west. "It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance."

...16,046 District 11 voter petition signatures to the Colorado Secretary of States' office for the recall of John Morse. This exceeds ... the total number of votes (13,451) cast for Morse during his 2010 election.
While this is good news, I have to ask: WHERE WERE THESE PEOPLE DURING THE ELECTION?!!

I hope that this recall ends up being effective and also that it sends a message to anti-gun politicians. But I HATE the fact that it was necessitated by voter apathy. We all need to understand that we're digging our own grave when we pretend that elections are not critically important.

Well... look at the 2010 gubanatorial race in CO. You had the Republicans in shambles. You have Tom Tancredo going Constitution Party, and splitting the vote between Maes and himself. (Personally, I am a big Tancredo fan, mostly for the same reasons that folks on the left compare him to Hitler)..... Anyhoo, Hickenlooper won, not so much because most of CO loves Hickenlooper and what he stands for, but because the Republicans are in disarray there, and alot of people stayed home.

I am not saying that CO is a conservative state, it is about 50-50, and I've noticed if you are Conservative there, you are REALLY Conservative (and vice-versa for the Communis-- I mean Liberals).

That being said, even many on the left aren't down with the whole gun control thing, and there is a libertarian streak in all Coloradans that makes anyone supported by Bloomberg cringe. (Let's face it, he's a little fascist troll).

I don't know how this will shake out, but I do know that CO will likely get a temporary reprieve.
