Colt 1903 Pocket price check ($500)

My Savage is from 1913. When folk tell me about Glock inventing the striker fired pistol I let them shoot my old "10 shots quick".

The striker spring on the Savage though looks like it could work as suspension on a Dune Buggy.

Thread drift be damned! Yeah, the Savage was great, as were their ads...can't imagine that today. IIRC, Bat Masterson was a celebrity endorser.
Mine is minty, but with kind of a bead blast finish that has very little wear. Need to do a little research on it. Double stack, striker fired, radial delayed action. WAAAY out over their skis. Mine needs a range run.

I still have not put money down on it yet. That .44 Tracker for $350 got my budget off kilter

Humphrey Bogart, who was a bit of a "gun person" himself, preferred the "look" of the 1903 for movies, if the script did not specify the kind or tye of gun the character carried. Strictly out of the elegance of the work.
Humphrey Bogart liked the 1903! ughhh! Dude was a cool guy! He got me wanting to start smoking cigs

Good shooter. I paid $490 I think, for a slightly prettier one, but that was in 2012. It’s probably my favorite .32 to shoot.

Next time Turner Classic runs a string of Bogart movies, keep an eye on what pistol he carries. Ok, in Treasure of the Sierra Madre, it's a S&W revolver, but that was in the script that way.
I thought he was a Colt Detective Special man! Smith??? so un American

Do you have a 1903 yet?
Do you want one?
Do you think you'll buy one in the future if not now?
Do you think you'll find a better one for a better price when you decide you just have to have one?
Do you plan on selling it for a profit at some point?

Thats my checklist for this kind of situation.

If your answers are NYYNN, then you should just get it.
If not, pass.

here’s the plan! I got the $130!

they have all their guns online and updated every 10 minutes. If the 03 is still listed by 6pm (t mins 2.5 hours) I’ll go put $130 down Tuesday (they close Sunday & Monday)

Problem SOLVED!

Don’t get cooler then a Colt from 1916!!!
Are you having the same problem I am with this new 2 week waiting period garbage? Its such a long wait, by the last few days I've almost forgotten I've already bought a gun and start thinking about buying more.

Yes, and a $18 fee per background, So everyone is cramming in as many guns in 1 check as possible

lol, so that's why you are so big into layaway, when you pay them off you can cram them all onto the same BG check.
Smart Fella, lol
I dunno about you but $70 for a BG check is a long way from the $30 I was paying 3 years ago.

$70! that’s CRAZY

my STRATEGY is 2-6 guns per BC check. and with 90day layaway. Pay off all but $5 till 90days come to!

No background check fees here. If you have a CPL you take the pistol home that day. If no CPL you have to go to your local PD and get a purchase permit. Not sure if there's a wait for a permit.

Same here a few years ago with CPL. But we didn’t have to buy any permits, just wait a few days.

2 weeks is way to long to wait. In 35 years of buying guns I don't ever remember a wait. Back before CPL's were a thing here, some PD's would only issue permit's one day a week. If you missed that day you had to wait till the next week. One PD would issue them whenever there was a desk Sargent on duty. The system we have here now is much better. Walk in, put your money, ID and CDL down. 30 minutes later walk out with your new gun.

Most of my favorite LGSs can have me out the door in 15 min or less.
I'm so glad I have a CPL.
With this new purchase permit law for hand guns, I can see the numbers of CPLs skyrocketing just to avoid having to jump through Whitmers hoops.

That refinish seems really well done (sharp edges, etc.). I wouldn't say it's worthless as a collectible.

Maybe not? I paid under $500 for it. My understanding was that the refinish was professionally done, and the grips were replacements.

Maybe my daughter can get more than I thought it was worth after I'm gone. :)
