We have a THR member whos grandfather was guarding the Nambu factory after WW2 and he and his buddies assembled pistols from spare parts to stave off boredom- which were promptly traded off to other GIs for booze and smokes, IIRC. He still has one, in the white and totally free of markings, but complete. A true lunch box gun, lol. Sorry if youre reading this, I cant recall who it was....
Of course, there was no way to know at this point if the barrel and receiver were heat-treated before the factory shuttered, so probably not a good idea to shoot that one!
Probably the most prolific lunch box guns are HiPowers that snuck out of FN under the Nazi occupiers noses and P38s made just after the war in France from spare parts at the Manurhin plant.
