Some years back, Interarms found themselves with a large stock of USGI .45 1911A1 pistols that had been sent to England during World War Two. They were brand new, but they couldn't bring them back because of the 1968 GCA.
So they bought new frames from somebody (not Colt), stripped the parts off the pistols, and then rebuilt them on the new frames.
Excluding the frame, all of the parts are genuine WW-2 military quality, unlike much of what is made today from investment castings, MIM, etc. If the pistol hasn't been used much I'd say the parts are worth between $400 to $500 alone.
