Forgive me it's cold and rainy here (Eugene, OR) and all I have to do is think about my next rifle.
I've got a sig 556 sbr that's nearing completion but the darn thing is 7lb8oz without sights/optics. It feels very front end heavy too. Great for short hikes/car/home but too heavy for long hikes/bike rides. So I'm looking into a sbr Ar15 as a lighter option. Frankly I'm also iffy about the quality of my sig 556 factory SBR. It's not let me down yet but it's been far from problem free. I'd really like to get something higher quality.
I've narrowed it down to ether a Colt 6933 11.5 or Noveske 10.5 light basic. I like how light the Colt is at 5.38lbs. If I ditch the pig for a vortex the Noveske weighs out to 6lbs which is still very light. The thing that gets me is the prices. The colt seem over priced at around $1500. After all the Noveske is only a hundred bucks more but comes with the best barrel around,(chrome lined not stainless) better stock, better mussel device, better pistol grip and Troy rear sight. The only edge to the Colt is the lighter weight and extra inch of barrel.
Just how much am I paying for that "Colt" name? Or am I missing something? Feel free to chime in. Especially if it's rainy and cold where you live too!
