Colt Commemoratives Crash

Mark, not trying to give you a hard time. Just a small insight into the gun business in the 1970s in Southern Arizona. Attitudes may have differed in other parts of the country. If you like it, more power to you. If I walked by one today I wouldn't give it a second glance no matter the price.

Dave

PS: And none of those gun shops had shag carpeting. LOL

Mark if you like them more power to ya. I just like ragging on you and you're a good sport. In all honesty tho they do nothing for me. If my LGS had one for that price and had the price tag where it was easily seen I would buy it. If the tag wasn't easily seen I'd just scan over it without a second thought. Once I got it home I would strip the gold off of it and cold blue those parts before I loaded it up.

oooh man! I’m old enough to know what I like, and old enough to not care… freedom! lol

I’m probably going to make a pimp chain from the Samuel Coin and load those sliver bullets with black powder. Live once, have fun!

You couldn’t give me a Hard time if you tried. I might live in Seattle but I grow up in the South. And if you didn’t have a thick skin, you were up the creek without a paddle.

I have only ran into a few if these Colt Pimp Guns. I think they will be popular in a decade in two. We should buy them up!!!

You misspelled gaudy.
just wait till the Glock & AR mall tactical cool ninja get tired of looking plastic and need to be classy!

I know these people because I was one of them. They have deep Credit Cards!

Mark my words! 60’s Original Colt Pimp Guns will be the Hott New Thing

here one that the shop has. A Colt Frontier Scout Gold Spike, with box and such. Unfired, $650

I gave up reading this thread at page 4. Going back to the OP. I gave $250 for a used Colt Frontier Scout on Gunbroker a few years back. I wanted a shooter and holster wear doesn't bother me. $650 for a commemorative 22LR is ridiculous. For $650 you could easily have 3 Ruger Wranglers or 6 Heritage Rough Riders.

RE the 2 other commemorative Colts you are buying, I would look for blued parts to swap out the nickel and gold parts. Ebay and Gunbroker carry lots of gun parts.

Edited to add: The price is not out of line though looking at sold guns on Gunbroker.
You need to be logged in to GB to see this. This is sorted by bid count, high bid count to low bid count. This shows what guns are selling for currently.

the 2 Colt SAA, I’m not looking to reproduce them to a factory mode. I really like the accent Colt did to them in the 60’s. I know you purists folks look down on them… but I LOVE the look!!!
