Can someone tell me the year of manuafacture of a Colt New Frontier w/.22 &22 magnum cylinders , case harden frame . serial L186--

The Colt Peacemaker .22 with 5 digit serial number and prefix of L was made in 1974.

Are you saying the New Frontier .22 would fall in the same seial range as the Peacemaker ?

Same gun, for some reason the book calls it a Peacemaker .22 instead of a New Frontier. Pressed for time right now. when I get back I'll check out why.

The "Peacemaker .22" was the fixed sights version.
The long 7 1/2" version was labeled as the "Peacemaker Buntline .22".
The "New Frontier .22" was the flat topped frame with adjustable sights version.

Colt simply lumped all serial numbers together for all versions under "Peacemaker .22".

Those guns were also called the "Peacemaker Scout" and "New Frontier Scout", the word "scout" distinguishing them from the center fire SAA's. They had steel frames (early ones were casehardened), where the original Frontier Scout had zinc alloy (Zamac) frames.
