So I inherited my fathers Colt Officers Model Mark IV 80's 45ACP.

My father LOVED some Big Wooden grips, me not so much. For him to fit those monsters on the frame he needed to replace the Slide Lock, Safety and Plunger Tube with aftermarket ones that were smaller to fit. Well, the Plunger Tube now falls out and locks up the gun. So I need to replace that, and figured I might as well replace the Tube, the spring, the slide lock and put a new safety on, but am really clueless as to what i am able to put on there. I would have a gunsmith install them as I would have no idea how to properly do it (i believe they need some work to get the tube to work properly). I have since removed big wooden grips, and put on for now the Houge Rubber Grips so clearence is no longer an issue.

These are what I am looking at, can someone help me and tell me if these are correct and will Fit

Other than plunger tube with the new grips installed safety and slide lock work. ?

Why do you want the extended parts Their really not needed on a compact
The officer frame should accept normal colt parts Officer , Defender and New Agent are all the same basic frame. Officer grips are all over e bay.

Why not just get a new plunger tube have gunsmith install it and buy some new grips . No reason to go changing every thing

The parts you have listed should work if you desire Officer frame uses many full size 1911 parts. out side and inside

I have 1 Officers , 1 Defender, and 1 New Agent. I like the Colt compact pistols .

I suppose the Slide Lock and Safety both work, but I really dislike the ones that are on there now. Dont like the look of the rounded look of the slide lock, safety i guess is ok, just not my favorite design. I figured if I was gonna pay a gunsmith something, might as well replace all those parts, even thought about replacing the trigger, but not so set on that.

I like the extended just cause I have monster big hand and thought the Extended would be nicer, no other real reason, i wasnt set on extended, just the first products that popped up on Midway after the quick search.

The grips have already been replaced with the Hogue rubber grips that I like, those are easy enough to change.

If I am having a gunsmith do the install for those parts, is there anything else I should have them replace on this 20year old 1911 that I am overlooking.

If it is going to a smith to replace the plunger tube then I would have him look it over. Make sure the extractor looks good and that the tension is correct. Look for any unusal wear and check the springs.

The slide stop is a easy fix. Most even if they say they require fitting are drop in. If you can reassemble a 1911 you can put on in.

The thumb safety is too important to mess with if you are not confident in your ability to fit it. These often require a small bit of filing to get perfect and you want it to be perfect. If you take your time you can do it. Just take it slowly.

Other than that shoot it.

The OACP was known to occasionally break the recoil spring plug retaining lip. There are some fixes for this but they may involve problems with disassembly and reassembly of the firearm. May also need a gunsmith to fit and install the parts, I don't know. Since you intend to engage a gunsmith's services anyway, I would ask about this.

I'm not an expert on 1911s by any means but I do have one of the Officer's models. It's the only 1911 I ever really liked due to its size.
