Ok I've been doing my own research on each one of these but have never shot any of these. I know the HK p30 is kinda in another ball park but I want to compare it anyways.

I own a combat Sig P226 threaded. I originally wanted the Combat P220 but the deal i found on the P226 2 years ago was too good to pass up. I like the gun a lot but its not my go to gun. I dont shoot it as well as a couple of my other guns. I believe its due to the wider grip. I have handled the Combat P220 and really like ergonomics of it... and feel I could shoot it well due to the thinner grip (single stack).

The HK's I have no experience with what so ever with the exception of my HK Uramex 22lr MP5 which is a great little replica.. Very impressed and happy with it.

The HK45 ergo grip felt great in my hands. And obviously a very well built gun.
The P30 equally felt great in my hand. Well balanced, well made.

I'm at a bit of a dilemma for the HK45 because it doesn't come with night sights, and is not threaded which I want. I can also find the combat used for about 150-200 bucks cheaper. And its still a weapon that is employed by military units. The ergonomics of the HK seem better but the P220 feels nearly as good to me. I know people have complained about sig reliability issues but I haven't seen it. The 2 extra rounds of the HK45 without having an extended magazine like the p220 is nice as well.

I already own a nice Smith 1911pd (its my house go to gun, and my favorite to shoot). But the HK45 or P220 combat is a zombie apocalypse gun. Easier to break down and clean and would like night vision and suppressor options.

The P30 comes into play because Ive found one that I might pick up used for $700 DA/SA that has tritium sights installed, 4 mags, and a threaded Adco barrel... But it competes with the sig P226 combat that I already own... Personally I'd guess I'd like the P30 more than my Sig P226.. dont want to sell the sig p226... for the price and options I'd like the P220 more than the HK45... *but without having shot the HK's I cant say for sure...

The guns I collect are for hobby use, range shooting.... I shoot all my guns I dont keep them new in the box. All have to be ultra reliable and be high quality.. and I look for what brings the most value and options... These would be zombie apocalypse guns not necessarily my carrier or home defense.. And I just want to blow money on guns... :)

Like to hear your guys thoughts...

Well, I'm definitely biased since I've bought two P220s. Gave one away as a gift. The capacity is just like a 1911. It's not a bad thing, you'll just have to really work on your reloads. They are very high quality. My 220 is one of the older folded slide guns, and the slide seems like it was hand-fitted. It's no trouble at all to hit at a good distance. With some practice, you should be shooting through the same hole at 15 yards.

I noticed the same thing you have, that the grip is just right. Keep your rails and outer barrel bearing surfaces greased and you'll be 100%. Any feed issues I've encountered have either been due to a worn recoil spring or worn out magazine spring.

I haven't picked up any HKs because of their magazine releases. I just don't like them.

I have three P220 pistols including a Combat TB, Carry and an older model with a spur hammer that I bought in '92 when there was only one P220. The P220 is still one of the best pistols ever made in terms of ergonomics, reliability and combat accuracy. As for SIG reliability, I have six SIGs in all including two P225s and a P239. So that's three all German pistols made in the early 90s and three German/US made around 2010. All six pistols have been incredibly reliable with no issues at all ... none. The P239 is my CC carry pistol and has been for the past year.

I have a P220ST in 45 and the H&K 45c. In any comparison I have tried, the H&K 45c wins hands down. The SiG is nice but the H&K just can't be beat. JMHO and of course YMMV.

Thanks for the input fellas.. Yeah it seems to be personal preference... Too me both have their pluses depending on what you want out of it... If only I could find an HK to shoot locally...

like chuckles, i have a 220 and a hk45c and for me the hk is has better ergonomics and just seems to shoot softer and gets back on target better than any 45 i have shot. I also converted mine to LEM which i prefer over SA/DA. As far as th p30 i have not shot one but i don't think you would be disappointed. My hkp2000 is similar to the p30 in ergonomics and is the only 40 cal that i have kept because i like the way it handles( i am not a big 40 cal guy). If you like the three pistols find the best deal you can on one of the and go with it. If you are like me you will end up with all of them at some point.

My nightstand gun is a usp 45 with the traditional safety decocker.

My favorite guns are a 1911 and revolvers, so I will give you what I perceive to be an honest opinion. I have owned a P30 with LEM trigger in V1 and V2. I could never get use to them so I sold them. They were 100% reliable and I wanted to like them I just couldn't. I sold a P220 and regretted it so I recently purchased another one. They were both also 100% reliable and they both were assembled in New Hampshire. I've looked at the HK 45 and have debated getting one. The over $1K price tag is the only reason I haven't. I didn't feel like the P30s were worth the price I gave for them. With that said I think you will be happy with any of them if reliability is what you are looking for. I'd be more worried about which one fits my hand the best. I'll give H&K some credit on their grips. I never liked the USP because of the grip but their newer pistols can be set up to accomodate just about any grip you would want.

I own a combat Sig P226 threaded.

And I just want to blow money on guns...

Considering your P226 is already threaded and you want to blow some money if you do not already own a suppressor for it that should be your next purchase.

One single purchase hands down beats all three of those guns you were thinking about buying put together.

Only downside is once you buy one you will buy more because they are very addictive.

My P220 Combat has been flawless.

I'm biased in favor of the P220,have no experience with the P30.The HK45 is well made and very very accurate, just didn't like the way it fit my hand. I have been using the SIG system for a long time and never had any issues with my P220s(older folded slide models).

Biased here as well. HK45 all the way for me. Bought it 2-3 years ago and havnt had a malfunction yet, but I only have around 5k rounds through it. I can hit essentially anything I decide to hit with it, within reason. Shot a field mouse while running the tractor the other day.

I have waded/wallowed/swam down a 2 and a half me stretch of river several times, HK in it's holster. A lot of complete submersion, plenty of sand, whole nine yards, and at the end of the day I can fire it without issue. The pistol is accurate, I love the ergonomics, and of course the uber reliability.

I'm a pretty dedicated HK fanboy, and for good reason- their guns just work. I would take an HK45, but the HK45CT would be even better.

Yes a suppressor would be great... just been somewhat lazy to fill out the trust fund paper work. No LEO signatures here.

Went to the gun shop today and handled the P30 and HK45 again... Superb feeling guns. I spoke with the armorer there as well about the HK's and Sigs.. He did say that he has seen more sigs come in for repairs.... but Sigs also make a lower quality line and there are probably more sig owners out there. He seemed to favor the HK slightly more. They didnt have a combat p220 for me to handle.

If you decide on Sig make sure to check the DA trigger pull. While last Sig I saw felt real good in hand one could safely suspend cinder block from the trigger on a stout rope line. Not sure if that was because the gun was police issue P6 or for whatever reason the pull was hellishly hard.
