Well, I've been here trying to trap for several months. I've not caught one pig, but a couple a deer. Think it was the same deer twice. I've got a feeder near my trap that I've caught pigs on the camera at about every other night. I've got pigs all over the place here, shot a sow in the friggin' back yard. Well, so I was goofing off in Hallettsville yesterday while the wife was getting her hair done. There's a hardware store with guns and outdoor/hunting stuff there, so I was lookin' at all the goodies and they had this 1 gallon jug, sorta like an antifreeze jug, of this read syrup called "Pig Out". Now, I've been told that the other stuff they had, "Hog Wild", isn't much more than strawberry jello which I've been using with no results, so I bought this Pig Out on a whim. I put it out last night and the pigs, smart as they are, pushed the damned trap out of the way and gobbled every grain of corn I put out that had the Pig Out on it. They seem to like it, but I had to anchor my trap with a couple of old T posts and I tied the back end to a tree so the devils can't push the trap now. If they want it, they're going to have to go in after it.
Jury is out on when I'll catch the first one up here, but these ferals seem to be a lot smarter than the Europeans down on my place in Calhoun county which never moved the trap before. :banghead: I said in another post, when I caught the deer, that the deer up here are dumber. Well, the pigs make up for it.
Anyone ever try "pig out"? You don't use much of it and it's pretty cheap, 10 bucks for a gallon. I'll be a regular customer if I start catching pigs. Sure seemed to get their attention last night, anyway.
