I use a 1.5 inch belt man belt with my comptac with normal clips, no need for the Velcro. My belt is reinforced and pretty sturdy, plus I see no need for the Velcro. Great Holsters. comfortable and useful is many situations and carry set ups.
GET THE STANDARD CLIPS, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET THE REGULAR STANDARD NO FRILLS CLIPS.
I have the C clips, the J clips and the regular ones and I promise you the regular clips are what you want. I ordered the holster with the J-clips first and it warned me not to and that they have specific uses and well, they were right.
As far as belt with I use 1.5inch which I think is most common but measure first.
By the way I know I have said this a million times but Comp-tac is the BEST holster I have ever used a very fair price.
The M-tac is my daily carry holster with my full size M&P
kd7nqb is right. 1.5" is what I have and standard clips. I eventualy went to a Pro under cover style holster because when I sat down the long clip bars dug in to my boney legs. Great Holster. Great customer support.
Like everybody else says, use a good 1-1/2" belt (I suggest Comp-Tac) and standard clips..... and if you set it up "FBI Cant" you should cut the extra off the bottom of the rear clip before it ruins a nice pair of pants! Don't ask me how I learned this lesson. This applies to most adjustable IWBs, not just the MTAC.
I have the Comp-Tac Spartan (no frills version of the MTAC) for my G23. I have the V-clips, but no belt yet. I have a 1.5" on order with a sewn in Velcro strip from The Belt Man. In the interim I've just been hooking the V-Clips over my belt and that has worked pretty well. They are really sturdy clips - thick, solid Kydex.
I'm not sure how I feel about the Spartan though. It really needed to be broken in as the leather was stiff as a board when I got it. it's getting softer the more I wear it, but it's still not quite comfortable, especially when seated ( I wear it at about 3:30). I'm hoping a good gun belt makes the difference when I finally get it - the Belt Man is working on a 40 day turnaround right now...
Ive got one for my XD, its a quality holster and is pretty comfortable. Ive had it a couple years and I still havent figured where I like to wear it. I carry a PM9 most of the time(99%). Definitely go with the standard clip, Ive got the Jclip and only one of them will stay hooked on the belt. So I gotta change them out at some point. I also use the Comptac belt. Its thick and sturdy.
Good products, excellent customer service and speedy delivery.+ 1 for CompTac

Oh this thread will probly be moved to the holster forum whenever a mod sees it, just in case you cant find it later.
I have the Comp-Tac Mtac standard clips with a gunners alley 1.5 belt. I also use it with a 1.5 wilderness belt. The C clips really aren't any less visible than the standard clips. I don't think they're noticeable if you blouse your shirt over them a little bit.
I really like this holster, as it's comfortable, tuckable, reasonably priced, and best of all you don't have to wait forever to get one. You can also use it for more than one gun.
