Competition guns

Lots of interesting comments here. Some shoot oddballs in matches for the novelty, and that's fine if it's fun and not slowing down the group too much. But why do some folks have a problem with someone using a competition-tuned gun in a competition? Do people show up at the race track on Friday night with a Honda Accord, declaring they don't believe in owning a car that's impractical? That's just odd to me.

Where to start? Except I've shot lots of different guns in lots of different types of competitions, most of which I no longer compete, but I've kept the guns in case I get back. Here are a few samples: At top are a pair of .22 RF Anschutz for Rimfire Silhouette, Std & Hunter Classes. Next are rifles for Centerfire Silhouette, Std and Hunter Classes both on Rem M-700 actions in .260 Rem caliber. Next down are rifles in NRA High Power rifle competitions (from top: .300 Win Mag, .308 Rem. & .30/06.) all built on Pre-64 Win. M-70 actions. Next down are four rifles currently used in Benchrest matches, two each in Light Varmint and Heavy Varmint Classes. All built on BAT actions, Leonard wood stocks, Kreiger barrels, Leupold scopes, Bix'Andy triggers. Next down is 6BR used in 600-1000 Yd benchrest, BAT action, Leonard wood stock, Kreiger barrel, Leupold scope. Next down is one of rifles used in Smallbore matches, Built on Rem M-37. Lower pic are pistols once used in NRA Bullseye matches: S&W 41 on left, Colt Gold Cup .45 on right. My current favorite competition is Sporting Clays with SXS double shoguns, with is another topic altogether. 21A_2848 (3).JPG 21A_4143 (2).JPG DSC_0199 (2).JPG BAT1.JPG 21A_3361 (2).JPG DSC_0057 (2).JPG IMG_0178-1.jpg

I played that game until I realized that I wasn't having fun unless I broke them all....so I moved to flintlocks... always l 20161014_064343.jpg oved history , and we have an active club nearby.

I have been traveling to Pall Mall Tennessee for the past few years to attend the Alvin York Memorial shoot...as well as hosting my own shoot and attending club and territorial shoots. I am proud to be a two-time Illinois territorial mountain man.(shooting, 'hawk throwing, knife throwing. Fire starting)
I also compete in the open handgun class of nmlra sanctioned shoots.

I would love to get involved in CAS shooting events.
I would also sit in and watch idpa or other modern pistol events.
