Best I can tell, every state-required CCL or CHCP class covers only basic handgun safety (some with live-fire at a range, others no live fire) and state laws regarding open and concealed carry, but have no content on how to handle actual self-defense "manual of arms" when carrying concealed. That is, the mandated license or permit classes have no instruction with practice on how to draw and fire from concealment.
We know that there are both national (e.g. MAG, Rangemaster, etc.) and local or regional schools that do offer actually CCW training, and NRA now has a CCW class, although it appears many NRA Pistol instructors do not offer that class.
Has anyone taken the NRA CCW class that you can compare it with more well-established CCW SD classes you have also taken?
Feel free to comment on any CCW SD classes and schools, too.
