The odd quirk to the WI story is that it has been completely legal to open carry previous to the legislature & governor passing concealed carry this past summer (takes effect November 1). Along with many other WI residents, we did make some public displays of exercising our right to carry openly in recent years even under the reign of Governor Doyle (D) and the Democratic controlled Senate & Assembly.
As a resident, I find it frustrating that with just 2 weeks to go until Concealed Carry becomes law, there seems to still be some questions about exactly what qualifies for the required "training" prior to application.
As one who was "grandfathered" in to obtaining hunting licenses without the need for hunter training course, never having served in the military or law enforcement, or any other apparently qualifying activity other than hunting and shooting for all of my life, how can I meet the qualifications and apply for the CC permit immediatley? If anyone out there really knows (as opposed to conjecture & presumtion) please let me know.
