Concealment garment/vest for CCW and IDPA?

In the warm weather I usually cary a small pocket pistol in my front pocket. When it becomes coat season I can carry an IWB under the coat.
My delema is if using the coat for concealment, what are you supposed to do when you go inside and everyone else takes off their coat?

I've carried for 36 years, 34 of that as a LEO. The standard CC garb is a loose fitting button down shirt or golf shirt with tail left out. That has become stylish recently again.

Sweater vest or one of those golf wind shirt vests in spring and fall and/or you don't want to your shirt tail hanging out. Lots of guys wear sports jerseys, hockey or football of their favorite teams. Pretty baggy and inconspicuous.

I do have a safari vest which I often wear when I am on vacation because it has a lot of pockets. Add something photographic or a pair of binoculars and you look like a tourist.

A problem I will soon be dealing with is that my upper body is much taller than the lower. I stand around 6'1" . I wear shirts from the tall section and have to get my inseam on my pants cut to around 27". I worry about whatever i'm wearing possibly riding up too much. Luckily my shoulders are broad enough i could conceivably go with a shoulder rig but that has it's own complications.

I would say winter is depending on circumstances just as difficult for carry as summer. Personally if i were proportioned normally I'd go with a vest for fall winter carry if possible just because i hate having my arms encumbered. Heck i cut the sleeves off all my t shirts.

Being a rancher in Wyoming, a western vest is standard fare.

I also wear one of the Duluth Presentation jackets when I get gussied up.

What do you guys recommend as far as a concealment garment that would work well for IDPA, but not make me look like Rambo when walking around at the grocery store? Just a long button up shirt? What do you guys wear?

Thanks in advance,

Warner
I use to wear a photographer's vest until they became as popular as the belly bags so everyone knew you were carrying. Now during the summers I wear a shirt untucked and unbutton except maybe the bottom 2 buttons depending on whether or not it's windy, or a light sports jacket putting my keys in the strong side pocket (those of you that have carry for awhile understand ;) ).

With the shirt the pistol rides in the waist of my pant holster and the jacket strong side pancake to lower it profile...

I also have a Woolrich coat that NRAstore.com offers. It is a nice warm coat that is built for ccw. It has elastic 'holsters' sewn in the inside of the coat and elastic magazine loops sewn in the pockets.
I really like it too. It will conceal my 1911 and two mags. If I am going lite...my NAA mini mag fits in the magazine loops and then the pockets zip closed too.

Check it out at nrastore.com
