Well, to say I was floored today was an understatement. The employee that gave me the rifle scope yesterday came in today and told me she had something else to give me. We walked to her car and she was explaining to me on how her and her husband were going to just get rid of this, and that they had no need for it because it was pretty beat up. As she was throwing it out she figured that I might want it and that it would be a pretty good project rifle. She gave it to me in the case and told me to take it home and give it a once over. I didn't really want to look at it while I was at work (don't know the overall firearm feeling from some of the fellow employees) so I waited my 8 hour shift (like the night before x-mas) until I could get home and open up the case she gave me.

What I'm looking at right now is a scoped, .22 caliber Remington Scoremaster model 511, no bolt or magazine.

The stock is in at least 90% condition, but the bluing is in pretty poor shape. Also, I'm not sure if I'll be able too, but I'm going to need a new bolt for it. Anyone know where I could either buy a whole new bolt for this gun or buy the seperate pieces so I could put it together myself? Also need to know the feeding action of this rifle. Looks like there is a hole for a magazine but I have no clue on what one I would get to place in the slot

Any help would be appreciated, I'm looking forward to this project rifle lol

First thing I'd do is call up Remington and see if they make parts for that gun, or have some old ones in a warehouse somewhere. There may even be a gun in current production that uses the same magazine or bolt design (or at least one sufficiently similar that it could be made to work). If you go here you'll find a list of parts suppliers. Under the Rimfire list, they do have the 511 in the menu.

Gee, I wish there were people here who were literally throwing their arms at me (firearms that is, not their limbs). Good luck with the project!

Thanks for the help guys. I did see the E-Bay stuff, but I've always been a little skittish about purchasing certain things. The magazine no problem, but the bolt... well... I'd rather not chance it unless I have too. I borke it down last night and cleaned the bore, things blinding, what I thought was rust flakes turned out to be dust lol. Also, the bluing is in much better condition then I thought, turns out that whoever finished the stock decided to coat the barrel in varnish as well. Took some Hoppes 9 and some #0000 steel wool and it came off with no problem. Small touch up spot on the left side of the rifle and the bluing will be good as new.

I'll see if I can't pick up a disposable camera this weekend and snap some before and after shots (don't have a digital camera yet but do have a scanner)

think I can have it ready and shootable in about a week for probably under $60 lol

79 bucks for the bolt! I got a complete 510 rifle for $20, twenty something years ago. Mediocre shape, and I haven't shot it in many years.
