Any body in cal know/ work for a good private High end protection company?

I like training K-9s, but I am bored as hell since I ets. Thanks, Stevo....

I have POST, EMT, etc. As well as my Mil career.

i dont know the laws concerning that in CA, and i don't know of any high end EP gigs that aren't already taken. in silicon valley it seems every major exec has his own detail.

are you looking for something local or something overseas? you can always put in an application online at blackwaterusa.com if you feel like going overseas....so long as you have the qualifications they are looking for. their application is pretty simple, alot of checkboxes, but the checkboxes are pretty "elite". :)

i dont know if a CA POST allows you to work executive protection stuff. in Texas, our TCLEOSE (POST) does not specifically allow you to do so, but it doesn't prohibit you either. in TX you'd need most likely need authorization from your department to work such an off-duty job, seeing most agencies here are "at-will," meaning they can fire you for damn near anything, or even nothing.

also, do you have any executive protection training? police academy, last i checked, does not teach this. i did my academy at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, CA. although im not sure but i think some of that is taught in the military.

I really dont have much. I have done a lot of off duty jobs in the mil. I am not a cop.

while working some of these armed security gigs, I got some training but it was crap.

I sent in a res to the Steele foundation. They are in SF. I am looking for part time, type stuff.

ok, i assumed you listing "POST" meant you had a basic POST certificate. an academy graduation certificate isn't the same since you don't work for an agency thus you don't have a POST certificate (basic, intermediate, advanced, etc)

nothing against you at all. i have seen alot of guys (police and military types) looking for local EP work, some have experience and/or training, and some do not.

i know a guy who claimed to be a former Army Ranger (who really wasnt) and said he was some black belt in martial arts. he said he wanted to be a bodyguard and was looking for someone to pay his way to attend ESI. to this day i dont think he's found a "sponsor."

there are alot of people who want to do EP work since it pays fairly well, but it is a hard niche to get into. most people who need protection don't want to pay for it, and the ones who do pay for it have guys that are dug in like ticks. if you are doing stateside EP work it is generally not enough for full time work.

in austin i know a group that does part time (on-call) EP gigs, they are not regular and i'd say about less than 1 a month. they are trying to get their name out, so on occasion, they will even do some pro-bono movements with major celebrities, even though there really is no specific threat. kinda sucks doing it for free since you are essentially taking on a risk for nothing, not to mention the time and cost of doing business (gasoline if you're driving miss daisy around, etc).

good luck in your search, i hope you can find something. but will all the off-duty cops who can carry weapons (legally) and former federal agents with an EP background it is hard to find consistent work.

also, keep in mind insurance and liability issues. some off duty cops working EP gigs as overtime have little to no EP experience, can't afford or wont pay for the training, and almost none of them carry liability insurance.

my friend's outfit carries $2 million in liability insurance just in case....most cops i know dont have any liability insurance.

Dont you hate posers like that guy. I was a straight leg 11b. I was E-6 when I got my twenty letter last July.

No Ranger, no nothing. Just 11B and supply school. I did two tours in the box.

No Silver stars or purple hearts. And it was hard as hell. Guys like that, take away from regular NCO types like me. Piises me off. Just putting up with the BS Since I was kid was hard enough.

Now I train LE and protection digs. Check us out. www.cooperhaus.com
I am the bald one with my mal on the training page.

Thanks for your input. I think this may be something a guy who I train his dog for him could help with. He is doing some stuff around here. I have a carry permit. As far as the consumer board, but no CCW.
