Thats very good advice from OH25shooter! :) Wear the
shield proudly; get up every morning (or night) and say
to yourself, "Now today is going to be a really good day,
Cuz I might have the opportunity to help someone". In
many instances, that will be the case. One of the best
rewards for a law enforcement public servant is too see
a smile; accompanied by the word's "THANK YOU OFFICER".
Most citizens are respectful people, and can tell
when the job is well done!

Just remember, it only takes one "Aw $$it, too mess up
an attache case full of "That-a-boy's". When and if an
officer gets into trouble with his/her administration, all
the good works by the officer are quickly forgotten. In
a judgement by peer's; in many instances it may be the
Chief Of Police, The Sheriff, the personel board, or the
mayor that decides your fate.

But still, even with all the "gloom and doom" its a great
career; and one to be very proud of. I did a smidgeon
over 20 years; enjoyed my tour, and served the public
well. And finally, hat's off to my brother and sister
officers from all agencies and departments who are
still out there. And continue to "tow the rope"~

LEO career advice...

Compile a list of local, state, and federal outfts you might be interested in, work hard to at least double the number of outfits you've come up with, research them all, and apply to those you are qualified for. In the mean time, and up until and even beyond the point of hire, pursue avenues of improving yourself, be it educationally or practically.

Best of luck.
