Understandable. Ruger makes quality guns and stands behind them. The SP101 will not let you down.

Is 3" the longest barrel you can get on one? I like longer barrels on .357 revolvers.

Then you may be interested in the GP101...

SP101: fixed sights, short barrels, 5 shot, some with bobbed hammers
GP101: adjustable sights, longer barrels, 6 shot, no bobbed hammers.

Actually, you can get a 3" GP with fixed sights....It basically looks like swelled up SP.

Regarding the desire for a 4" SP101, I believe a 3.06" SP101 balances much like a 4" S&W K-frame, at least I my hands. If one really wants a 4" SP101, however, they do exist, though are discontinued, but seem not to have been made in .357 Mag, just .32 H&R and .22 LR.

For a 4" .357 that will pack easier than an adjustable-sight GP100, Ruger did make some 4" fixed-sight GP100s, with both full-lug and half-lug barrels. Before the GP100, there were the Speed Six and Service Six, both with fixed sights and available with 4" barrels.

Okay, I had one (3 1/8") and concur with all previously said, however.............mine consistently shot low left; like 8 in low and 4 in left at 25 yds; with any load. Sent it to Ruger and it was marginally better but still what I would call a Kentucky windage type gun.
I sold it in a moment of frustration(yes I know it's not a bullseye rev.). I'd buy another in a second if it came with adjustable sights, but I'm gonna buy a Smith model 60 instead. (Yes it will recoil more but I shoot mostly .38's)
I also put on Hogues which for me were a big improvement over stock grips.
Just my small experience here.
