I am totally new at zeroing and co-witnessing sights. I have a Daniel Defense DDM4v7 Pro carbine and installed the Magpul MBUS Pro front and rear sights. I haven't zero in the sights yet because I want to install the Aimpoint Pro optic as the primary optics. Once I zero in the Aimpoint optic how do I cowitness the Magpul sights. What will I see when I see through the optics and I flip the iron sights. What would be the next step. Thanks in advanced for your assistance.

I zeroed my Magpul BUIS at 50 yards then adjusted my red dot vertical/horizontal knobs to for "absolute cowitness" with dot right on top of front sight - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/co-witnessing-iron-sights.842411/#post-10943176

Typically, the iron sights should be zeroed first.

Then zero your red dot, and don't sweat it if, when you think you've got it shooting to POA, if the red dot is not sitting perfectly on top of the front sight post.

You're either using the irons or the dot, not both. Constantly having to remind our shooters (our M4s have the FSB) to ignore the front sight post (and wings) and just trust the red dot. Which is why flip-down front sights are better for the rookie shooters.

Lower 1/3 co-witness simply makes more sense for me.

With the factory spacer you have a sort 1/3 co-witness. IIRC If you want an absolute co-witness you need to get a different mount. The same is true for a "true" 1/3.

I have flip up front and rear BUIS with an eotech on my ddm4v5. Works well, co-witnessed in the center (not lower 1/3rd) . what I did (may mot be correct but worked fine for me) is I mounted everything, turned on the holographic sight , removed the bolt from the gun, propped the rifle up and looked down the bore at a fixed point- I used a beer can at 50 yards and dialed the sight in to be right on the same can (took very minor tweaking later at the range). Then I dialed the iron sight in to the electric sight (a little more tweaking to get it perfect). I've had it set up like that 5ish years and haven't needed Amy further adjustment .
I'm not much of a rifle guy but for my needs it's an awesome system. I did add a magnifier , but rarely use / need it.
This could be the wrong way but has been good on my rifle

I bought one of those SiteLite Mag Laser Boresighters (SL-100) that I plan to use to zero in the Aimpoint Pro. Can I use it to zero in the Magpul MBUS PRO sights too?
