Do you hang onto your yotes? If you keep the hides or not what do you do with the dog? I figure any number of other scavengers would love the treat overnight. looking to get out for my first coyote hunt soon. They're year round out here and can't pass up the opportunity to be in the field more.

"Casing"?

I read a post inquiring about it's similarity to a "casing" method. He asked if it was more or less like skinning a dear. That's as far as it went. Now i"m curious.

casing is a method of skinning and drying a hide generally to prepare it for the fur market. Involves a "jeans seam" cut, look down, yep, that’s where you cut. From ankle to crotch and back down. No cut across the abdomen, critter comes out leaving a tube sock of hide from stem to stern. The hide is placed on a stretcher to air dry, depending on the species, fur side in or fur out. Do a search on hides and case skinning for pictures and more info.

Hoshua1, Where in Wa. are you gonna shoot Yotie's? Do you use an electronic call? Near farm land or ???

Any doggy I've ever shot, I've let lay. I'm not skinnin those greasy slimy stinky muts.

I skin and keep the hides and once I even ate the meat. Around here, a good hide with tail, head, and feet goes for $20 at fur auction if the hide is well prepared and cared for.

usually leave 'em lay, sometimes throw 'em in the back of the truck and sell, whole. i don't/won't skin them out.
