Last week, a new to me remington woodsmaster 742 in 30-6 with two 10 round and one 4 round magazine. The price? Installed a new clutch in a 85 celica. Beat that!

I picked up a Mossberg 590 with a Choate pistol grip stock for $125 and a slightly modified (it had a sporter stock, otherwise untouched and had the original stock hardware) Remington 1903A3 for $200.

I also picked up a Desert Eagle MK19 .44mag like new in the box with three mags and tool (only missing the manual) for $500 a couple of years ago.

In traded a Glock 37 (45 Gap) with 5 mags for a Kimber 1911 Tactical Custom II with 3 mags that has some holster wear but otherwise in good shape. Its a great shooter!

The G37 had trigger work and an extended mag release. I got the Glock 37 from Buds when they were closing them out.

I think I did OK.

Monson production Dan Wesson stainless .44 with Hogue combats, 5" fixed barrel for $275.Gander MT., believe it or not.
Just found a brand new Glock 36, night sites, with all factory paperwork, case, and 600 rounds for $500. 100 rounds of it is Hornady. Crazy.

Bought a circaa 1930 H&R 32 semi from a coworker for $50.00 in 1986. Swapped it for a LLama 22 semi and a Ruger MK 1 22 semi. Sold the LLama for $150.00, and later sold the Ruger to Gander Mountain for $400.00. I probably would have done better privately since the Ruger was some rare collectable barrel length issue.

Over the years friends who were moving, or had a wife who hated guns, or whatever, have GIVEN me: Stevens .410/.22, a Beretta .32 and best of all, a .38 Special Colt Single Action Army.

Was at a LGS today and got a Thumlers Tumbler for $25. Got it home and decided to clean it up before using it. Took the drum apart and found it full of media and 125 223 brass.:D The guy there has found many deals and passed them on to his customers over the years. I have been the recipient of several myself. Like a bolt action 20 GA Sears Ranger 101 shotgun $35 OTD.:D

Devon, I hate to rain on your parade, but the 742 is a iffy gun. It's good for deer hunting and deer hunters (as in, shoot it 3 times a year) but the receiver rails are softer than the bolt and will get gouged up in a hurry with a lot of shooting. Gander Mtn will not buy them used. Not saying you got a bad deal, just be warned, it won't take much shooting to wear it out.

I got a Walther P-1 refurb for $189 and a little 20 gauge bolt action 3 shot Mossberg used for $120. On the other end of the spectrum, I got a fired once Benelli M4 for 1100 when list is 1600 for new.

Five Dollar Colt

I was at a Chyenne Gunshow with my Best Uncle and his buddy Bob back in 2001; on the way out, a real pretty girl at a raffle table sold me three $5.00 tickets supporting the Ray Hawkins for Governor campaign. A buffalo Hunt, an 1895G 45-70 and a Colt .45

I turned them around and let my Uncle and Bob blind-pick one each, I was left with the Colt.

I forgot about the raffle; a few months later, they called me on the phone, I won. First and last gun I ever won in a raffle.

A governatorial candidate supporting guns......how about that? Gotta love WY.

One time, I bought an Arctic Warfare Super Magnum from some guy for 100 bucks. He was wearing a black ski mask and had a bunch of other good deals on stuff he was selling out of the back of a truck but, unfortunately, I was too broke at that time to buy anything more.</joking>

Lets see here...

Marlin 336, x2. got one for 100 dollars in trade needing work. That was a few years ago, and more parts got lost by an angry ex wife. Currently redoing the whole thing. Got another fully operational, 30-30 336 for 100 bucks.

Traded 250.00 of then collectible cards for a ruger mini 14.

A nice used Mossberg 500 for $69 at Gander. 3" chamber and 30" full choke vent rib barrel.

Got a 28" barrel with screw in chokes at a gun show for $95. Kind of cranked me to pay more for the barrel than the gun, but made it a lot more useful.

Thanks everyone!

These are all great stories. Another one of mine happened because my frined need some quick cash for an AR. I asked hin if he still wanted his mossberg 500 complete with it regular stock and a pistol grip (which is currently installed for HD w/out a stock). He wanted whatever he could get so i gave hin $80 and got all excited because that all he needed to pick up his AR. Win win for both
he got his AR
and i got a seldom used mossberg for $80

these stories really are great so keep em comeing guys/gals.

I don't know how crazy they were, but here are a some great deals I've paid for pistols that looked NIB:
$200 for a SW 586 6" barrel that had less than 50 rounds through it.
$350 for a Sig Sauer P229 .40 cal.
$169 for a Ruger MKII Comp.

Colt Super 1911 made 1935. No scratches. Original Duo-tone mag & Grips. $300 at estate sale.

Same sale: Two Samurai swords date late 1400's and late 1500's for $600.

Bought a stainless Mini 14 at a Sheriff auction for 250.00, in 1993. Traded it for a Mac 10, and 5 Mags.

Bought a SAA colt 5.5 .357 at a pawn shop for 150.00, in 1990.

Found a Win. 95 at a flea market for 225.00 in 1992...

NIB FNP 9 with 3 mags $240
Great condition stainless Camp 9 with 2 mags (incl 30 rounder) $175
SPAS-12 $300 (needed $50 in parts)
870 Wingmaster $50

Bought a 1903A3 off of a former boss with the original militry stock set and a sporter stock for $50. I had no idea they were worth so much $$ at the time, it was just an 'old 30-06.'

A genuinely mint, russian contract Winchester 1895 of 1916 vintage for $130 last month - it was missing the front stock.

Heck of a deal. Lots of very nice captured Russian pieces in the Finnish gunstore I visited. I obviously couldn't buy a firearm there, so I had to "settle" for a beautiful skinning knife handmade by Marrku Vilppola.

My turn
A S&W model 12 airweight, LNIB, given to my wife by my former boss, was has wife's, nut she passed 3 yrs brfore he gave my wife the gun. He found it in his safe prepping for a class i had told him about.

A SKS with a tapco stock with full case of ammo from same guy when he moved to AZ - FREE

The two browning highpowers mkiii from Belgium with 16 magazines for 900

A Chinese sks, sig p6, and a astra a-100 for 399.

Springfield m1 garand for 425 otd a month ago.

I paid $79.95 for a brand new, in the box, Sears-Roebuck double 12 gauge. 30" full and modified chokes, hardwood stock, twin triggers back in 1967 I guess it was. My mother ordered it out of the Sears Catalog, and a Sears truck delivered it to the door, along with a brown hunting coat, and two boxes of Sears shells.

Yea that was a lot of money to a 15 year old kid on those days, but I like being able to tell about ordering a gun from a catalog and having it delivered in those days before GCA-68. That was quite a deal when you think about it.

Best deal recently was a Harrington & Richardson 999 Sportsman. I spotted it in the back of the case at my favorite dealer. They had it tagged at $179.00 which I thought was a pretty good price. I offered $150.00 and they took it. As we were writing up the papers, I notice the rear sight was missing (somewhat common for these I'm told). I pointed it out and said "That should be worth another $20.00 off." The clerk said "Ok". So I got it for $138.00 OTD.

One of these days I'll order a sight for it.

I picked up a 1958 Winchester 94 30-30 for $100 looks like it might have a box of shells through it. My only other is a Springfield loaded 1911 with 2 Wilson mags and a nib Case knife for $380

Had a guy trade me a Rock River w/ heavy stainless barrel, and very nice scope that booked (without the scope) for about 1300 for a base AR 15 that was worth about 700. Took the RR home, cleaned it which included the FILTHY firing pin in the bolt, and it shoots great. So I basically got paid 600 to clean the gun. :)
