Crossballs - Just Watched "Reality TV" Episode

I tried to watch it with an open mind but I didnt find it particularly entertaining or funny.

This episode started with a Black man, actor by trade, who was representing the position against Reality TV. I think this was the only person who was not "In" on the joke.

They started him off against a person pretending to be a multiple RTV participant . Later they added a person pretending to be a Professor who studies RTV and thinks its great. They added a guy pretending to be a low IQ RTV wannabe, then finally a lady pretending to be RTV producer. Basically 4 actors and a host punking the Actor who was not in on the joke.

Quite honestly the Actor kept his cool, spoke intelegently, and did not come off looking like some sort of fool. Just a guy surrounded by fools.

At no point in the show was it explicitly stated that the whole thing was a joke or that some of the people were in on it and some were not in on it. This show could have just as easily been shot w/ the Black Actor being "in" on it and just playing his part as a role.

I really dont see where its crucial to the show's premise to have someone not be in on the joke.

I'm with Carnitas- not only is the premise of the show sneaky, underhanded, and a cheap laugh, but the show itself isn't funny. At all. I don't think I laughed once through the whole thing. It's idiot humor, even by Comedy Central's standards.

If the format was the same as my show, ONE of the two people who "came in later" was another "real activist" or whatever. Possibly the professor?

I didn't see it, it's just that I've talked to four other people involved so I know basically what they're doing...

CRITICAL question: was there any direct insults levied against the "real people"?

We MUST find that out for every show. From the data I have so far, nobody else was treated as badly as I was. If it goes all the way to a lawsuit I'll just do discovery on the tapes, but what I need from y'all is to determine whether or not *I* was treated worse, on average, than the rest of the people "punked" (if they air "my" episode).

I'll rewatch the show but I dont recall any personal attacks on the "real" guy except kidding him about doing a ".... James Earl Jones impersonation.." (the Black guy had JEJ like voice). They were very dismissive of his position though and of welll reguarded films/entertainment in general. However the extent of the absurdidity (is that a word) was such that overall effect of the show was more critical of RTV.

Definitely not the professor. 100% actor. The other person that was probably not in on the joke was the lady who was a Reality TV producer.

The SUV show is on right now. The fake redneck is driving some anti-SUV woman absolutely friggen nuts. It is pretty funny, but then I drive a 4x4 every day.

Based on just the two episodes that I have seen so far, the guests not in on the joke were not made out to look like total idiots. The fake guests (actors) are the ones that looked like the fools.

yes i posted this same thing in my roundtable thread. the comedians came off as close minded and ignorant while the real guests, even though they were being fooled, came off as normal. i cant help but think that maybe if jim's show went through it would have made the anti's look like the idiots they are but i dont know if that is worth it if you have to humiliate a great guy like jim in the process.

I'm digitally recording the episodes, to pick out the advertisers for future comment.

I tried watching the first episode (reality TV) but it was painfully stupid. And, this is coming from someone who actually appreciates the Farley Brothers.

I didn't see the 'hosts' abusing the guest, and the guest certainly came off better than the comedians.

Eventually, I’ll probably watch it on fast forward. Maybe they’ll be funny if they sound like chipmunks.
