Okay, I've been checking for an affordable recurve crossbow. I've decided probably need a 16" draw and 100-150 lbs draw weight. Now, I'm not really thinkin' of hunting with this thing unless all my guns get taken by BATF or something, but I might wanna try it for bow fishing, maybe clamp an open face spinning real on it and use a fishing harpoon bolt for gar. I used to do that with a recurve bow I still use, but I can't shoot a bow that well due to eye dominance problems. I can shoot left handed with a rifle, though.

I don't know the brand, but I found one at Academy for 160 bucks. They had a compound there for under 300, but I really don't want too much draw weight for fishing. You can shoot through gar rather easily. Now, there are lots of 150 lb, 16" draw recurve crossbows on ebay for 85 or 90 or so. They don't look much different than that $160 one at Academy.

Any guidance here would be appreciated. I'm still studying this subject and formulating what I might wanna do. Crossbows are legal to use in Texas, now, for deer hunting, but only during rifle season. I'm not concerned with hunting anything other than fish an targets with this rig, as I say. But, it would be a good fall back if one needed something to hunt with and worst came to worst politically in this country.

I've got one,it's a Whammo Powermaster,as sold by Wards and Sears in the sixtys.check online, there's still some out there, 150 lb pull, wood and steel, usually about $150.00.
