Been working on this for a while. Just wanted to share it with the forum. It's a CZ-97 fully customized including accurizing. The list of mods is very long, so I'll refrain. I have removed the "Made in Czech Republic" billboard, shortened the dust cover, drilled and tapped the frame for replaceable 1911 grips screws, rounded the trigger guard, etc., etc., just to name a few mods. Hope you enjoy.

schmeky, you sure did a NICE JOB on that CZ. Is that the one you tightened the barrel bushing tolerance for increased accuracy?

I really like the class act "look"!

You should really consider opening up a CZ custom shop. I would pay $100 over the MSRP to get a custom gun like that. That's awesome.

Hi Schmeky,
thanks for posting. nice gun. I have the CZ 75B and the 2075 both in 9mm and Kimber 1911. I'm just wondering how much bigger this gun is than what I have. Double-stacked mags right?

My wife said the same thing. In fact, I'm in the process of getting my FFL so I can receive and do work. I have amassed a complete machine shop and it's been just for me to have fun.

I really like doing this.

That looks absolutely stunning! Very nice work, in a very understated yet professionally customized way.

1SOW,

Yes, I bored the slide and slotted it for a SS Match grade bushing. I set the bushing/barrel clearance at .001", takes an accurate pistol and turns it into a stunningly accurate one. I wish CZ would do away with the loose screw in barrel bushing.

EyeBallChief,

The 97 is quite a bit bigger in the grip than either CZ you currently own. Yes, it's a double stack mag, but only holds 10 rounds. I think CZ should have made a 12+ round mag, the pistol is certainly large enough to accomodate an increased capacity.

BTW,

I really appreciate the comments, thanks guys

Dude that is awesome. I recently (6 months ago) picked up a 97B and I LOVE the gun. It is the most accurate 45 I have owned. CZ overall is the main reason I am now getting into reloading :)

Can you give us some pics of what you did with the bushing? I am having trouble picturing it.

Awesome job.

LexRex,

Here's a pic. I mount the slide vertically in my mill and bore the muzzle ID to .697-.699", then cut the slot for the bushing tab. Then it's like any 1911, you just fit an oversized match bushing real tight.

schmeky,
I concur with the others; that is a fine looking CZ97 and the work nicely done!
I had been following part of the build over on the 1911 forum and really like how it turned out. What finish did you use on the frame? BTW, the shortened rails really give this build a much classier look over the stock gun (kind of nimble looking as well:)).
Again, well done sir!
Regards,
Greg

gb6491,

I'm anal about corrosion so I did a thin basecoat of KG's Guncoat properly oven cured, then overlayed with Duracoats "Gun Blue", which I baked for 30 minutes @ 180 degrees.

Thanks for the explanation, I love the 1911 bushing in it, makes a lot of sense! I don't have any machinist knowledge, how do you cut the slot that locks the bushing in?

Nice job. I am a CZ fan also. You made a great gun even better. Make me one.
