I bought this around 10 am this morning and by 230 pm I was done.

It will be refinished

i crowned barrel 11 degrees in my lathe

sanded out the casting lines in frame

Added a thumb rest into recoil shield

Installed a 1917 colt style lanyard ring

Machined cylinder to be a hexagon

General all around smoothed it up

I see Ruger is still spraying cerakote down the bore of those Wranglers. Very nice machine work, but after my Wrangler experiences, I hope you test fired it for accuracy before voiding Rugers warranty. Both of mine had the same cerakoting in the bore and horrible keyholing/accuracy issues. Eventually they were both bought back by Ruger after being deemed "unsafe to fire and impossible to fix."
It would be a damn shame to waste all that lovely machine work on another one of Rugers lemons.

Very cool! How are you going to refinish it. I have a pair of silver Wranglers but the limit of my mods was going to be fitting a pair of take-off XR3-RED grip frames, stripping, bead blasting and roundbutting them.

You know I did not even shoot this in the 24 hours I have owned it, with that said when I go to the range this weekend I hope to not be let down.

I saw a picture of one in a magazine article and was impressed..... then i saw the cost to have it custom done $965 and I was blown away.

Being I have a machine shop in my backyard I just did it myself.

If it is a flop I still inspired someone on the forum to chase their passion.

What is everyone's thoughts on coler selection?

I thought a black frame and ejector housing
Silver grip, silver cylinder, and silver barrel

The hex cylinder is very cool to be sure, and I like it very much.
But I like the lanyard loop mod even more!

Very well done.
Keep us posted if you go any further with it, please.

Range report!

I shoot a 10 inch plate at 100 yards a few times in a cylinder.

If it weren't for my tremors and shakes all shots would have been in a 1 inch circle at 15 yards.

I plan to build an insert for my LEE mechanical pistol rest and fire a group for mechanical accuracy.
