just got a old cva 1860 (ASM .44) from a friend. he bought it new many years ago for civil war re-enactment. he had the nipples removed and never shot it but it was carried allot. I realy like the gun but hate the 8inch bbl. is there anywhere i can get a shorter bbl. like the "sherif" mod. i could have this one cut down but i dont know what to do about the loading lever. can it be cut down? any ideas? thanks.

From what I have read American Western Arms bought out ASM in 2000 contact them as they might have old inventory ( I am quessing ) or consider trading for a current production Pietta-Uberti. There are some that favor the longer barrels so a deal is possible.

Other possibilities are to look for a damaged or cheaply priced brass framed ASM 1860 Army revolver with a good barrel in the length you want. It may take a while but it may be worth it. Or even one you could shorten. Good luck.
