I have been looking for a cap-lock pistol to go with my T/C Hawken cap-lock rifle to shoot at informal BP matches. After looking for some time, I'm not really impressed with what's out there for the price.
The best I have seen is the Lyman Plains Pistol. Now I'm considering a CVA Optima V2 Pistol. It's an inline, stainless/plastic piece so it might rankle some of the other shooters (not traditional) but it should be a problem to use (no recognition or prizes to worry about.)
Would the CVA Optima V2 be a good choice? Would it shoot as well or better than a Lyman Plains Pistol? Can one be shot as a "normal" pistol, or must one keep a hand on the fore stock of the gun given its long length?
