I was all set to get a 452 trainer in .22 LR. Then I noticed the 513, which seems to be the same thing with a non-adjustable trigger, non-adjustable sights, and a shorter barrel.

Who owns or has shot a 513? I just want a quality, accurate, reliable .22 LR bolt action for plinking and teaching new shooters to shoot. Is this gun as good as the 452?

Do you think the adjustable sights and trigger and longer barrel are worth the extra money to get the 452 trainer over the 513?

I wouldn't say the 513 is a worse rifle but it just doesn't have the same features. I wouldn't hesitate to get a 513 for the purposes you describe. I don't know if you can find a 452 trainer anyway. The CZ-USA page says it is "sold out for 2003." I'm not sure what to make of that. Here's hoping they have some in 2004.

452 Lux MSRP $421 .....walnut stock, adjustable trigger, adjustable sight
452 28" bbl MSRP $368..... beechwood stock, adj. trigger, adj. sight, 10-rnd mag
452 trainer MSRP $335..... beechwood stock, adj trigger, adj sight
513 basic MSRP $273..... beechwood stock, 20" bbl

Had both. Still have the trainer, 2 to be exact. My son used the 513 until he was able to handle the longer barrel. 513 shot fine, but the feel of the trainer is wonderful for an open sight gun. After using the the trainer sights, the rest seemed under-classed. Go with the trainer model
