So now I am down to deciding between SR9c and CZ 75. Despite CZ 75 reutation; I just can't get away from Ruger SR9c great trigger and versatility as it can be compact or full size gun depending on the mag. Plus my wife likes it as a concealed carry gun for her use due to multiple safety options. I hate these decisions.

I dislike Ruger handguns, so I am biased. I've shot a lot of the Ruger models and I'm having a hard time figuring out how you think the SR9's trigger is anywhere near that of the CZ-75

Id get the 75. You've got a better built handgun that will eat anything you feed it.

I sold my full size SR9 to fund the purchase of a CZ75bd. Nothing wrong with the Ruger. Just wanted to try an all steel platform. I am very happy with the switch. However, I do not ever plan on carrying it.

The triggers do not compare. CZ wins hands down. Although it is not a fair comparison. They are two entiry different trigger systems. The SR is the nicest striker fired trigger I have come across.

I've had both CZs and Rugers and am a big fan of CZs.

Were I to buy something for concealed carry tomorrow, it would probably be an SR9c. (I have an SR9 and like it a lot --it was an early one, and I had the Ghost trigger installed.)

I've had a bunch of CZs and remain a big fan of their full-size guns. I've also had several Compacts (which refers to the steel-framed compact with a safety rather than decocker), and found them so similar to the full-size gun as to not be worth the change.

I might be enticed by one of the newer alloy-framed CZ Compacts (capital "C" Compact), which offers the Omega trigger system which. I thnk, might be easily changed from decocker to safety and back) -- the choice might be harder then.

The trigger on the SR9c is pretty good -- and the size is right for concealed carry. (The SR9 isn't bad in that regard.)

The other option is the new CZ P-07, which is light, smaller, and offers the Omega trigger system, too. I've not been able to handle or shoot one of those, yet, but the reception has been good.

After trying an SR9c out at the range I decided to look into getting one because I really didn't have a compact 9mm. at the time. I compared it to other polymer framed pistols (Glock 19, S&W M&P Compact, SA XD Compact), and the SR9c had the best overall feel and ergonomics for me. The gun shop also had a couple of CZs, notably a P-01 and a P-07. I didn't care all that much for the P-07 but the P-01 felt perfect in my hand and had some really nice design features. I bought the SR9c and a week later came back and picked up the P-01 (along with a Kadet .22 adapter that they gave me a great deal on). So now I have the best of both worlds (polymer and all metal), in two great compact 9mm. pistols.

I don't think SR9c trigger is better, but it is one of the best in striker fired pistols. Light and no long travel compared to others. I want something I can carry if I choose. That is my biggest concern with CZ 75. Too heavy to carry. Here's another element, buying the SR9C for my wife as Christmas present. Perfect reason for me to get another pistol around house without getting nagged about why I am buying another gun . Haha

What impressed me the most about the SR9c trigger was that on several different guns that I tried it was always the same: light, relatively smooth, and not much travel to it. Compared much more favorably than the triggers I found on similar sized Glock, S&W, and SA models. You're right in that the CZ 75 is a larger, heavier pistol (35.2 ounces), but the P-01 weighs in at 28 ounces while the SR9c is only slightly lighter at 23.4 ounces. One thing I liked about the SR9c was how integral they made the high capacity mag to work with the shortened grip frame. Very clever design.

Let us know how the "buying your wife an SR9c for Christmas so you can get another gun for yourself" proposal works.

I have never been impressed with any CZ firearm I have ever handled. They feel more awkward in my hand than a Glock, and Glocks are awkward. Size comparison wise the SR9c is the exact same size as a G26, but with the grip angle of a 1911. Definitely something in Ruger's favor. I really liked my SR9c and only had a few minor issues with it that were purely cosmetic. Didn't like the large loaded chamber indicator, or the finish, or the thumb safety. Stuff like that. But was a very reliable pistol and pretty accurate to boot.

Just the opposite of me; I've liked pretty much every CZ firearm I've ever handled, to the point that I own 14 at the moment. They just seem to fit, feel and function the way that I like, and shoot very accurately for me. :)

The only thing I didn't care for was the LCI on my SR9c. Everything else: trigger, sights, thumb safety, changeable backstrap insert, integral high capacity magazine, and grip frame angle were all features I really liked on the gun.

The two are apples vs. oranges. CZ 75 is large and heavy but soaks up recoil well. Also, the trigger is much better, especially after you have a thousand rounds through it or dry fire it with snap-caps to break it in.

SR9c is smaller, lighter, more concealeable, the full-size mag gives it about as many rounds as the CZ. I guess the heavier trigger with external safeties makes it a bit safer.

It's best if she tries them both out.

Also, there's the CZ 75 Compact. It's a little smaller and a little lighter than the regular model, otherwise it's the same. Holds 14 rounds.

Finally, there's the CZ P-01 and PCR. They are alloy version of the CZ 75 Compact. Lighter, but doesn't soak up recoil as well.

Cheers, all!

CZ75 is a great gun. With some work - trigger will be unbeleiveable. SA Trigger on my CZ CUSTOM is better than one on my Kimber 1911.

The guns are so different that I have a hard time understanding a decision process that produces these two as the final candidates.

The Ruger is a very solid gun. Most important, it sounds like it fits your and your wife's needs best. No one is going to carry the CZ. Your post almost reads like you're looking for people to say it's okay to pick the Ruger. I'll try to help: "That's fine." You can always get the CZ later on.

it can be compact or full size gun depending on the mag

I recommend looking at CZ 75 Compact with alloy frame.

I carry 14rds mag inside and an extra 16rds mag for reload - which is I guess what you are looking for. You can fit the SP01 rubber bottom on the 16rds mag and it will fit the gun perfectly (as I learned on this very forum!). I have a theory about possibility of adding the RAMI rubber bottom on the 18rds mag for use in compact, but haven't tried that yet.

The SR9c and CZ75B are two completely different handguns.

The SR9c is a compact for conceal carry while the CZ75B is a full size duty pistol.

The SR9c is striker fired while the CZ75B is a DA/SA hammer fired pistol.

I have handled the SR9c and it does have a really smooth trigger.

Do you have big hands or small? Wondering cause I felt the same with my cz's until I went to the wood grips and could reach the trigger properly. Prior to that with the thick clumsy rubber grips.....i found them blockish and a bit awkward. Funny how that tiny bit of grip size reduction can make a 180 on liking or not.

If it is for carry get one of the compact, alloy framed pistols like the CZ-75D PCR, P-01, RAMI, or go polymer with the P-07. All are excellent, but I own, and carry a PCR. I also have a 75B, a Kadet Kit .22lr conversion, and dedicated Kadet pistol.

OK, I'm gonna be the minority here, but I just love my SR9C. Accurate, slim, light, and you can convert it from mini to full size with the change of a magazine.

I have a CZ75 as well, it's accurate, and reliable, but it's heavy and I hate the Omega trigger.

If you can, shoot both first, then decide.

There is a CZ 75B compact, as well as a CZ 75 PCR/P-01 which are compacts w/ decockers. There's also a CZ 2075 RAMI which is a sub compact w/ extended mag included. I got the BD version which came with night sights and it shoots/feels great.
