Just picked up a cz-18 (9x18 mak) off aimsurplus. Got a holster and two mags with it, penny shipping. $220 flat basically but i opted to handpick for an additional 10.

pictures looked real good, lightly used guns but who knows?

anyone got one or wanna give me any info about pros and cons. This pistol is a concealed carry/truck pistol. I have a glock 22, but its a little on the big side and makes it hard to conceal.

You'll need to know where to get ammo. :)

You're getting a great pistol that is likely to surprise you. It'll be accurate, reliable and easy to take care of.

This from another thread on the same topic'''
* Keep it lubed well. I use TW25b light grease and it works well.
* If you remove the grips, watch for the trigger guard pin to fall out of the frame.
* Watch for grip screws to loosen. I put tiny rubber washers on mine.
* Watch out for hammer bite.
* Some aggressive cleaners will melt the grips.
* The trigger guard may be tight initially when you dismantle the gun... that's normal. It isn't like a Walther in that regard.
* They work well with cheaper Commie ammo.
* Sig P232 recoil springs will fit.

Enjoy. It's a nice pistol with good ergonomic and it's pretty accurate.

About the only "knock" I can come up with is the palm swell on the left grip blocks the magazine release on mine. It's not a real problem, I just hit the amberdextious right side magazine release with my trigger finger.

It's a shame the holster isn't much good for anything really. The one that came with mine is well made and nice looking, but it's a uniform drop type holster. Might be OK for field use, but not for CC.

A Don Hume K40 J.I.T. Slide holster for a Karh 40 fits mine perfectly. About $25.00.

Cz 82

Don't dry fire the 82 or 83 without snap caps. It will damage the firing pin. New 83's come with factory snap caps.

This is a myth.

Military weapons are invariably designed to be operated while empty.

he may be thinking about the CZ52 series, which are known for their brittle firing pin. Not the 82/83 series though

The CZ 82 is a great gun, you will find the cheapest ammo Silverbear at ammotogo.com I also found a guy who makes black fiberglass replacement grips for $25 and ships in a few days. The grips on these seem to crack if they are the least bit loose so bring a screw driver to the range. Also if you put one in the chamber and wish to decock remember to carefully slowly release the hammer and let go of the trigger. Once the trigger goes forward the hammer will not engage the firing pin and you are good to go. Here is the site for grips: http://www.designergrips.com

Marschal makes grips, he is from the Czech Republic and does a great job from all the pics, keep wanting some but time and money are not there.

Oh if you disassemble one completely you will have difficulty getting the sear spring to reengage the hammer block, so you might want to read up if your going to refinish one yourself before you end up with a bag gun or a pistol that is unsafe or inoperable (ie doubles and FTF etc.)

Yes the best way to redue is take the grips off, use some paint remover to strip the paint and then give it a thin layer of gunkote and bake on 325 for an hour. I had one blued and put the nice cherry marsch grips on...the gun blued with a "brushed aluminum" tone finish.
