My coworker and I went shooting a few weeks back and his CZ75B was having some problems. When engaged in slower fire, and taking up the rearward travel of the trigger, the trigger would not fire the pistol and just be frozen and not able to travel any further back. I encouraged him to send it to CZ for service but I'm curious what might be causing this problem. He says he hasn't been able to replicate the problem at home dry firing with an empty mag in or out.

If he disassembles it, thoroughly cleans, lightly lubes, and reassembles it and nothing seems to be loose or askew and it dry fires okay, what else can he do?

As I always recommend to people diagnosing a car issue, "check the fuses".

As suggested, clean it out thoroughly first. I like Gun Scrubber spray, just take the grips off first. You'd be surprised how much junk will run out.

Good idea to clean the gun and I recommended that too while we were at the range. I'll have to check with him today, when at work, to see if he did.

I have a polymer wondernine but have to admit I really liked the feel of the all steel CZ and it fit my hand well. I can see why so many really like the line.

I know it sounds like a simple "duh" thing, but it gets overlooked from time to time so I must ask... Are you sure he wasn't accidentally partially engaging the safety? That would block the trigger travel after a shot take up.

You could be having a timing issue as well. If it persists, you will need to have it corrected. Happens in CZ's on occasion.

David/CGW is the "MAN" for CZ 75 problems or improvements.

Especially check the trigger bar to be clean and lubed and the two spring legs that hold it UP are "both" riding in the grooves on the bottom side. Sometimes cleaning with a rag can distort or pull one of the two spring sections out of those grooves---ask me how I know.:-(

It does sound like the trigger bar lifter spring may be outside of the grooves.

See if the trigger bar spring screw is loose (filed strip the gun and look down from the top into the magazine well area of the gun (just behind the trigger). If that screw gets loose it will make the gun misbehave.
