So, after my thread asking what makes 1911's so special, some of the responses have gotten me to reconsider my stance on the 1911. The problem for me, is the availability and cost of the 1911.
I have a shop that sells Kimber, which would be my first choice, but is priced so high it is going to be very difficult to justify. At the low end, is RIA or Charles Daly which is the right price, but I don't really know what to think of the two brands. In the middle, is Dan Wesson.
My only other experience with Dan Wesson is an older .357 revolver which is incredibly sweet. Great fit and finish, accurate, and totally reliable. The 1911's I don't know much about. The gun feels tight and had a CZ feel to it, but I don't know much more beyond that.
Is the DW worthwhile? Am I better picking another? I need high value for every penny paid on this, as this gun is going to be a bit of a luxury.
Opinions?
