Any Dan Wesson 4-inch commander-style bobtail owners out there (or general cognoscenti) know if there is an ambidextrous safety on the frame or a right-handed only safety? I can't seem to locate the answer myself.

Looks like a hot little number! I'm a lefty, and I'm looking into upgrading my 1911 to a possible 4-inch officer's frame model. Thoughts?

Many thanks,

The bobtail from DW is a true 4.25" pistol. UNless they just changed, they only come with a "normal" single sided safety. Mine was built in May of this year. Best gun I ever saw, fit and finish wise. Then I shot it and, well I used to own a DW bobtail. Good luck.

glocker1911, just so I understand what you're saying...did your beautiful DW Bobtail shoot so badly that you immediately got RID OF IT?!? Was it as issue of accuracy, reliability, what? I've been tempted to buy one every time I see them. They're built by CZ, appear to be assembled well, and fit like a tailored suit. If you got a lemon, please share the details & spare me the potential heartbreak. Thanks!

I have a .45 DW commander and it has fired and ejected all 250 rounds I have have put through it. Got it about 6 weeks ago and it has functioned from round one. No break in period. The only problem I have had is getting it apart to clean it. The barrel bushing is really tight.......and has a single sided safety
