When it comes to these spree shootings, their high profile coverage in the 24 hour news cycle can artificially inflate their relative frequency. Yes, it's a tragedy that X number of people were killed. But that number pales compared to the full number of firearms fatilities, often concentrated in low income, high density population areas. The production of those was the fallout from Suburbanization in the 50's.
I for one would not prefer to have our lives ruled by blind faith with no rational support.
Agreed, when we have a society whose subservience to any set of rules without thinking for themselves takes precedence over critical thinking, we are effectively setting ourselves back millennia in human history.Once a person reaches that state, they have completely ceased to think for themselves, so they are beyond convincing.
Some people find religion, others find governance. A "religion" with imperfect "gods" as corrupt, petty, and capricious as those from Greco-Roman times.
