I used to practice with a USPSA shooter that could draw from surrender, or from hands at sides, and get 2 alphas on a USPSA metric target at 7-10 yards on a consistent basis. He just used a kydex holster and a good old 1911. No big deal to him. I am guessing the poster above has done the same on occasion.
 
Got 2nd again... LOL. Steel challenge match on new years. 9th of 96 overall, 2nd in Open division.

I did beat the guy that beat me last time, though.

always a bridesmaid, never a bride. :D

That draw in post #15 ... holy crap.

That's substantially faster than I can do it.
 
But, in the real world, and even the competition world, is it really all that important?

yeah at that level, winners are separated from the rest of the pack by tens to hundredths of a second.
