Declaring you are armed when stopped for traffic violation?

Ok my main problem is the guys 18 and has a handgun hes not 21 there for he should not be armed hes gonna lose his gun and could end up in jail

In alot of states, you can possess handguns at 18.

I know of only 1 person in Michigan that was stopped while carrying. When he told the officer he was carrying at the time, the officer said, "Just leave it where it is." I've heard of other states taking the guns, clearing them and holding them during the entire stop, and giving them back to you, unloaded, with your citation.
