Detachable magazines or stripper clips faster?

For sustained fire... belt > magazine > en-bloc > stripper.


That's my experience, anyway.

With my Mauser (Vz24), the empty stripper clip pops right out at the slightest touch of the closing bolt.

Mosin stripper clips/chargers have to be manually removed. Hrmph.

Dont forget that such criters as the AR the mags load with strippers too. If you have the stripper guide for the mags that is.

I concur that it depends on the rifle, as well as the skill of the operator. An AK magazine takes a degree of skill to insert, and if done incorrectly, can be challenging to remove. An SKS with strippers can load smoothly with proper technique.

Fastest to load to full capacity with least amount of room for error? A Thompson Center Contender.

Well, I thought the original question was which was the fastest to reload, from last shot empty to first shot after the change.

For the SECOND reload, the mags have all the advantage because you're putting far more uninterrupted rounds downrange between the possibly slower reloads.

Anyone here shoot Rattle Battle much? I remember that the fastest Garand shooters could get off 16-20 aimed shots (1-2 reloads) max in the 50-second time limit, while the M14 shooters maxed out at 24 shots--1 reload.

That was years ago and nobody on the firing line then was shooting an AR type.

I guess I'm old now. Nuts.

Straight up fastest way to get the rounds into the gun (say 5 to call it a number that you can fit in a stripper or a mag w/o trouble)? It's all gonna be based on the rifle, you can do a mag change on an enfield, but it's gonna take a lot longer then just putting a fresh stripper in and loading it that way. AR on the other hand is very very fast. So all that being said it's gonna depend on the weapon.

Circumventing a new AWB will all depend on the language. If it specifically states the weapon can not contain more then X rounds, it doesn't matter how it's loaded. If it stipulates no more then X round detachable mags, then internal mags load via strippers and belt feds (boy that'd be a fun way around that) would be good.
