Detonics rear sight

IIRC, the intent of the design was to make it easier to cock the gun with your thumb when carried in Condition 2.

According to Mad Ogre, http://65.48.65.168/Interviews/Detonics_Combat_Master.htm the placement of the rear sight mid-slide aides in old school hip firing from condition two. Draw from holster, cock with weak hand, like you're fanning a revolver, then spray and pray from the waist.

But nowadays most people carry condition one... and most people like to actually use the rear sights to aim instead of using it as a grip for racking the slide. So, there must be a reason why modern Detonics still have the sight mid-slide?

Tradition, I guess. Colts have ponies, Detonics have their sight thing.

The Detonics Combat Master was designed to be carried in condition 2.
Moving the rear sight forward, and slightly sloping the rear of the from, made thumb cocking easier.
If you look at some of the pictures of the early MK1's, and forward, you can see there was a lot of experiments with the shape of the hammer spur too.

The rear sight being moved forward does look funny, but it works. But I prefer to carry mine in condition 1.

The actual distance between the front and rear sights, are about the same distance on the Combat Master, as a two inch snubby revolver.

Here is a comparison, with my Detonics, and my Ruger SP101.

Does the sight really need to be that far forward to make thumb cocking easier? It looks like it's designed to be palm cocked with the weak hand.
