Did my .30-30 let me down???

Look, I've missed plenty of game with rigs that were well up to the challenge. I have several high dollar bolt rigs that I shoot well, with really good glass. What I was looking for with this thread was exactly what I got; some great comments regarding that load and this gun for that shot.

I do not plan to post regarding all future misses; I am sure their will be plenty of them & generally I never second guess what happened. It is usually more than apparent. In this case, I really wanted feedback on whether the shot was too long for the rig, the stand, the angle, the fact that the game was moving, etc...

I am going back this weekend; will likely take a 7 mag this time. It shoots dead nuts, just to remove all notion that anything other than me is to blame. I am going to shoulder rest on the animal, ruined shoulder meat be damned, I will not chase wounded or missed game this weekend.(well, I will if I flub the shot, of course) I will post back with pics Sunday; likely empty handed if my luck holds---Stay safe, all--

blackops,
We are all aware of your distaste of the .30-30. If you can't actually contribute to the thread, why do you waste the time bashing the round? It seems it would be easier to just leave it be.

hahaha

AKE,

I have a 30/30, and I like taking it out shooting also. There's just some nostalgia about the gun that I like. I laso have a little 357 lever action that I want to shoot a deer or pig with in the near future. I have other rifles too, so I know what you mean about the 30/30.

just something about it....

just something about it....

That sums it up. I just wish I could kill more stuff with it. Took a spike this morning, same one I missed last weekwith the .30 -30. I know, because he is an ugly bugger w/ one 7" tine. He dropped like a stone, within 6 feet of where I missed him last weekend.

I used a 7 mag. in humble defeat. I have conceded that neither I or my .30-30's are up to 220 yrd. shooting.
