Did you ever buy ammo and accessories for a gun you don't own?

I did one better , I bought a gun with no ammo :banghead: thought I was buying a REM 141 pump in 35rem , checked the bore, , trigger, looked for any signs of re-blueing, checked over the stock , made sure it had the right butt plate , paid the man , then found out I was the proud owner of a REM 141 in 32rem not 35rem , opps,, good thing I reload, a must for a 32rem

I also have ammo for guns I no longer own

I also pick up range brass for guns I don't own , got tons of 223 some day I'll get an upper for my AR in 223

Read on one of the gun forums I read that a holster for a full size XD would fit the FNS-9 I own. Bought the holster , slightly too big for the FNS-9, BUT what else could I do, I bought an XD45, PERFECT fit! :)

Not that i bought them, but my sis-in law gave me 600 rounds of Hornady .22-250. Would love to have a gun in that caliber, but really can't find a use for it...

Yes; A red-dot sight for some future firearm, and a .22 Magnum bolt handle to modify a 10-22 which I purhased some months later. Sold it, can't find one now! And...two 375 H&H brass. (Don't ask!)

Kind of did.

Bought 22 magnum ammo for a BRNO 611 that I'll hopefully never fire as I'm trying to keep in unfired condition. But it gets harder every year to leave her sitting unmolested in the back of the safe. Will NEVER again buy a NIB gun as an investment. :banghead:

Like savanahsdad, I did buy a gun, S&W third model pistol, that I can't find 32 S&W (short) BP ammo for. Probably not a good idea to be shooting a pocket pistol that old anyway.

Yes. One of the things my wife keeps asking me is "Why do you have those 9 crates of ammo and never take them to the range when we shoot?" Guess I should really buy a Mosin or three and start shooting that stuff...

.

Just bought a Williams 5D-JEMS Receiver Sight for an otherwise-pristine Arisaka Type 99 that was drilled for this addition. The gun's in lay-away at a local pawn shop.

Now to get a spare front sight to drill and tap for a taller front sight post - probably an AR-15 type post.

Yes, I often do this, but only when it is a good deal. Lots of times, I'll buy magazines for guns I don't own. I do this either because I plan to buy the corresponding gun or because I want to sell/trade the magazines. Also, I think magazines are investments for when the idiot liberal Democrats try to ban magazines.

I just got a deal on 5.56 x 45 ammo and some 30 round mags. Found a nice AR lower and a trigger kit.
Maybe someday I'll actually build a rifle.

I don't think I have, but honestly don't remember. Doesn't seem like something I would do.

I do have holsters and ammo for guns I once owned, but no longer do. Who doesn't?

Didn't buy, but was given 8 or ten rounds of .270 in an ammo wallet. One of my regulars at the bar I used to manage in Dallas came back from a hog hunting trip with it. She didn't own a .270 either and wasn't sure how she ended up with it, but thought that I might know someone who did. So she gave it to me. Been sitting on it for a few years now. Just found out last Sunday that my brother-in-law has one, so it will be passed along.

Also just remembered that my mother gave me a bayonet that belonged to my grandfather. Seems like it belongs on a Swedish Mauser. Unfortunately, I am not going to be in a position to get one anytime soon.

I have a bag of 6.5x55 brass for a Swede. I keep hoping that some day I'll find a rifle I forgot I bought back in the good days. I just wish I had started collecting in the even better days. :D

Some years back I had a lead on a .244 Remington so purchased some brass and reloading dies, then the deal fell through.

I was planning on picking up a .45 LC revolver, but circumstances now prevent that. I wound up with a brand new set of RCBS dies, and some brass and bullets that have never been used.

was planning on getting a 357 mag revolver and stocked up about 400 rounds of 38 special and 357mag... then decided the money I would spend on a 357 would be way better off spent on other things. besides I don't "need" one and probably wouldn't shoot it much anyway and the ammo is a lot more expensive than the 22lr I mostly shoot. ended up selling all the ammo and broke even at best.

Yeah you know how it goes you get the box of assorted ammo at a yard sale for $10 so I have a few odd rounds and partial boxes laying around for stuff I don't own. I have dies and components for one gun that got tossed in when i bought it. Don't have any real plan to reload but I'm sure they will come in handy someday.

I bought 2 boxes of Federal Premium 6mm w/ Nosler partitions, but only because I'm planning on building a 6mm Remington in the near future. That's all I can think of.

Matt
