Thats soooo stupid that it made me wonder if it wasnt really designed to stir the market for S&W, making people think "I better go buy one quick while I still can". Free advertising. Induced sales (aimed at the gangbanger market, no less!).

S&W's getting their back scratched right now. Its bound to become a collectable.

I'll stick with my poormans used Ruger.

I don't understand the flap about this. The .500S&W edges out things like .454 Casull, .475 and .500 Linebaugh, apparently, but I'm willing to bet that it's not by an extreme amount (at least, not extremely more powerful than .500 Linebaugh). And it's still not as powerful as a Magnum Reserach BFR .45-70 loaded with super-hot hunting loads (being that they have all that case volume and are rifle rounds).

Nobody squaked when Freedom Arms introduced a revolver in .500 Linebaugh, or other big 5-shooters. Nobody cried "the sky is falling" when .454 Casull made it big.

So why this now? Is it because the new Smith is getting all of this press?

What's he worried about. It's almost impossible to own a gun in Chicago anyways. Oh...thats right, only the law abiding citizens that applies to. A BG paying $1000 for a gun, probably $2 a bullet, $10 for the range to be able to shoot half way decent, ........ darn why not use a 44 mag.......oh they don't because it's to darn big....... uhm, lets see here...... how much sense does a BG having a 50 cal make?
Come on, give me a break Davis.

Can you say 'Market manipulation?"

Govt,: "Honor your agreement."

S&W,: "What do we get out of it?"

Govt,: "How bout if we could boost sales of your new big one, make it an expensive collectable instead of a semi expensive production gun?"

S&W,: "Franklin Mint?"

Govt.,: "At least."

So instead of coming down to 700 or so in the next few years, it'll go up to 5 or 10 grand for 'The worlds most powerful production revolver that almost never was"

Wonder if Mike's going to buy one?
